Default Interior LEDs replacement - question

Welcome!

I’m happy owner of 2022 IS350 FSport and I’m planning to replace all interior halogen bulbs to LEDs. I really like the color temperature and color of the dome/map light that comes from manufacture, but all the bulbs in the doors (puddle light), footwells and trunk are still ‚amber halogen’ which doesn’t look that great.

So there is the question - will any ‚194’ aka T10 LED bulb fit all of these places? Anyone knows exact color temperature of the dome/map LEDs that come from manufacture so i can match new bulbs with them?

In my previous car (Civic) i replaced all interior bulbs because it didn’t have any LEDs but halogens so i got this 10-pack of 6000K bulbs and it was just fine - https://www.amazon.com/Marsauto-Replacement-Courtesy-License-Lights/dp/B079L3WBDN/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2LZTAIY0QM8XF&keywords=led+bulbs+interior+car+lights&qid=1646639681&sprefix=led+bulbs+interior%2Caps%2C58&sr=8-3

Welcome and congrats on the new car!

I’ve had a 2015, 2018 and now 2022 IS350. First thing I usually do is switch out the amber light bulb for whiter LEDs. I’ve used the same bulbs since 2015 and they fit. They’re all T10… they all fit except the 2 center dome light consoles.

My LED bulbs are 5000k and I wanted to change the colour of the dome light too since I believe it’s more like 4000k (not sure). But it’s a touch responsive light and not like my ‘15 and ‘18 where they were traditional buttons. So not that easy to swap the bulb… I asked my dealer and they remove the center to console. Looks like it’s already a flat LED in there.

For the trunk, I recommend using a flat LED with an adapter like the picture below. The adapters aren’t super great (loose) but play around with it and the final results will be impressive! I only have the link to Amazon Canada… so screenshot it is!

Thank you so much for all the info! I really appreciate
So probably to save the headache with replacing dome light I’ll leave them as is, and I’ll just replace all other bulbs with LEDs.

Looking at some pictures online, like this:

Looks like you are right, dome lights are something around 4000k so I might look for that color of LEDs or I’ll stick with 5000k as well!

Thanks for advice with trunk bulbs, I might actually try that flat leds panel.

EDIT: Actually it is hard to find any t10 5000k that would fit the car… 99% of them are 6000k
I only found these in 5000k but not sure how they will look (if not too bright) and they are kinda expensive (16$ for 2-pack when usually they cost 10-15$ for 10-12pack)

Your post made me doubt my LED bulbs… I’m starting to wonder if they’re not 6000k or 6500k instead of 5000k after all. I bought them back in 2015 and got no trace… here’s what I have:

For the trunk, I realised the Amazon listing says 8000k! They’re definitely bright and very white (almost blue)!

As for the rest of the bulbs, here are some pics. I also took one where you can compare what they look side to side with the OEM dome light. Not the best way to take pictures of lights but I guess it’s better than nothing.

@Dizordered thank you! Your pictures helped actually a lot, yeah it could be more like 6000k which is fine also, I have couple of them left at home so I will try them and see how they look with OEM dome lights 👍🏻 Definitely changing those in footwell and puddle lights, my wife’s NX300 has white LEDs there and it looks way way better and cleaner, I wonder why they still using amber ones in 2022 cars 🤔

what Diz setup is overkill, I used only these in the interior and it is very easy to take the clear plastic covers off to replace the bulbs. 1x driver side foot-well, 1x passenger side foot-well, 3x front seat overhead, 3 rear seat overhead, 1x in the truck (more than enough lighting for the trunk, 1x exterior left-side mirror (see youtube on how to safely take it apart), 1x exterior right-side mirror (see youtube on how to safely take it apart).

Amazon Amazon

I also have the two tone colour [red and white] lexus f-sport ground projector courtesy bottom door lights but I don't see a listing for that at the moment on amazon or ebay, search around even try ali express.
Here is the mono white one https://www.ebay.ca/itm/265440177207

On my ‘15 and ‘18, the 3x front seat overhead bulbs and 3x rear seat overhead bulbs can easily be replaced by removing the clear plastic cover. But on my ‘22, those are now touch sensitive and is not a simple clear plastic cover anymore… so for now, I have no choice but to leave them stock.

For the trunk, I just liked to have lots of light lol

Got these today - will install them within few days.
I will keep dome/map light stock for now, if difference between them and other leds will bother me, then I’ll change it as well.

Question - is it possible to setup/hardwire the footwell light to stay on all the time when car is turned on? I didn’t see that option in vehicle settings. My wife’s NX300’s footwell leds are on all the time from manufacture but in my IS350 FSport they only light up when map light turns on (when i turn off car)

No, it’s actually pretty easy. I use a mirror and my phone light. First, I don’t want the bulb to light up cuz it’ll be hot when I remove it and also, it’ll just shine over the mirror which will become useless.

I use a small flat head screwdriver and remove the clear plastic cover, switch out the bulb and put back the cover. That’s it!

So i actually tried changing footwell bulb yesterday, and there was no problem to get access to it, but when I took off plastic cover for some reason I couldn’t take out the bulb - I didn’t want to use pliers to not break bulb itself, but when I tried to remove it with my fingers it looked like it either stuck inside or something is holding it 🤔 Should I just use more force and it will ‚slide’ off then?

So far replaced bulbs in doors and it looks way better 👍🏻 I’ll post pictures when I’m done with all of them.

For the footwell bulbs, I just had to pull the bulb straight downwards with my fingers. I don’t recall using more force than the others though… but I can tell you that there’s nothing holding back. It should slide off. I’ve changed them on my ‘15 ‘18 and ‘22 and they were all the same.

How this helps!

The odd design choices Toyota makes, I wasn't aware they did that with the 2022. I'm guessing there is still no wireless phone charging with the IS even though the Corolla has had it for a while now?

Did your LED’s match the overhead light and are you still happy with the brand, etc? Do all of the locations use the same bulb? I have the same goal you had.
