Question Code U1117

So about a month ago I purchased a 2015 IS350F. The car runs beautifully but I just got my first "Maintenance Required" light. Carista is telling me the code is U1117, "Lost communication with accessory gateway." Tried resetting the code on the app with no luck. Trying to research this code has yielded some conflicting information and left me somewhat confused. I consider myself to be somewhat competent with cars and circutry, having done many repairs myself. However I dont even know where to start on this one. All I know is somewhere in the car an ECU is not getting the info it needs, can't even figure out where I'd look for a loose connection. Searched the forum a bit but didnt find anything too useful. Any help would be much appreciated.

Is this the message that came up:

If so it just means the vehicle is in need of some kind of service...i.e. an oil change.
Unfortunately I'm in Canada so our vehicles don't have the message...as indicated in the image.

As for the code, if the vehicle is operating normally then don't worry about it...there isn't anything wrong.
I know that seems odd to say, but trust me the code means nothing. It code have occurred at one point in time because something happened (like someone unplugged something while the ignition was on) and the code has just been sitting there ever since.
Clear the code and check again at a later date to see if it comes back...it won't.

Also that code can be generated by a number of different ECU's in the vehicle, so without knowing which ECU the code is stored in you'll never know where it originated from.
Likely Carista does indicate which ECU the code is stored in. Once again, just clear it.

So Carista lists the code under "Body/Convenience System". Don't know what that means, seems rather vague. I've attempted to clear the code using carista but it still shows up every time I re-scan the vehicle. I have not been able to turn off that Maintenance light and the message on the gauge cluster either, which makes me think there may actually be a loose connection or non-functioning piece of equipment.

On my vehicle I get Maintenance Reminders as I set it to let me know when it's time to change the oil.
I have to go into the Multi Display and reset the reminder in order to clear it.

Because I don't have the Maintenance Reminder messaging on my vehicle, I'm not sure if the process is slightly different for US vehicles.

I'm going to assume that Carista means the Main Body ECU...which is on the left side of the dash...above the fuse box.
The Gateway ECU is on the right side of the dash, behind the glovebox.

Here's the big question(s), is there a warning light on the dash? Ignoring the "Maintenance Required" message for the moment. (I'm guessing your answer is no)
Is there anything on the car that isn't working? (I'm also guessing your answer is no)

When you reset the light is the ignition ON? Or is the car running?
Would you have known there was a code without Carista? (Again, guessing no)

Old thread but did you ever figure out what the U1117 was or get it resolved?

Thanks,

It’s been over 3 years since the OP has posted on the forum, and may no longer be reading it. May need to tag them to get attention. @Kaianuanu are you still here?
