hi guys i am still here replied the message to jmatc and gave him all the suggestion, techstream works ok with windows 10 as long as u got the drivers for 64bit here are the drivers for it: just follow prompt and will install the drivers for u https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gFL...0yEsxrSCF/view
Get the techstream, just don’t try to re-flash pcm or modules. I’m very happy with it,I have an older version of Carista, it could not disable my steering column tilt on entry exit. I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth using techstream, it was a bit of a pain to get up and running, many sources on here and on Toyota nation to help you. I have 2 mini vci cables, firmware version 1.4.1 and firmware version 2.0.4, I’d recommend the 2.0.4, should be the best for your needs. I bought 1.0.4 off eBay and then the 2.0.4 from alibaba, I paid around 45 for the first and 30 for the second. Where are you in Florida? I bought a used windows xp laptop from an engineer in Melbourne area for 40 bucks, stand-alone and works perfect, 32 bit. I have since also installed it on a windows 7 laptop, 64 bit, it requires more tweaking but it also work fine, I’m running techstream 12.4 I think, it took a few versions to find one that worked well for me, version 13 kept crashing,
The 1.4.1 is an older firmware on the cable which usually means you can upgrade the firmware to v2.x.x but in most cases it will brick leaving you just a cable without OBD function. Some can truly be upgraded but very rare, and I have yet find any cable with the right hardware underneath for that process. If you just need diagnostics then 1.4.1 is all you need and is cheaper, if you want tuning of the ECU in someway then the v2.x.x cable is what you want. The v2.x.x cable is more expensive and isn't easily found, most likely will need to import it but I have a v1.x.x cable coming in with supposedly the hardware to upgrade it but we will see how that turns out when it arrives.
Actually going back and forth with tdi200 on just putting the information on a site so it's easily accessible to all. It will include troubleshooting steps and other tips and tricks that was collected over the years.
Has anyone used the Toyota Techstream Software to change settings on their 3IS? I have a 2015 350F that I'd like to make change some of the settings on, for instance i'd like to roll down the windows with my key fob like i could with my 2IS, and im interested if the DRL settings can be changed to stay at full brightness with the headlights on. So yeah, looking to hear from people who have successfully used it as I've seen horror stories in the amazon reviews for these mini vci kits about people corrupting their ECU's and bricking their cars and viruses coming on the software CD's. Would also like to get the software from a trusted source if possible.
Just run it in a virtual machine on your laptop, VirtualBox is free. you just have to allow the VM access to your USB ports.
