Default 2022 Apple Carplay / Siri Bluetooth

Hi guys,

I have a question about accessing Siri with my ‘22 IS350. I’ve been scratching my head for the past few days… searching forums and google, but no clear answer.

I recently upgraded from a 2018 to 2022. In my 2018, I didn’t have Apple Carplay. So when my phone is paired with the car’s bluetooth, I could access Siri by holding down the Off Hook button. I think that’s called “Mobile Assistant” or “Siri Eyes Free” or something?

On my 2022, which now has Apple Carplay, Siri can no longer be accessed the same way. I mean, when my phone is plugged and Apple Carplay is active, Siri works fine by holding down the talk button. But I don’t always want to plug my phone. Sometimes, I’m only connected with the bluetooth. But with this way, it doesn’t work like my 2018. I cannot access Siri with any buttons. I have to scream “Hey Siri” for it to work.

While bluetooth connected, I tried holding down the Off Hook button or even the Talk button… nothing seems to activate Siri. When I call “Hey Siri”, it also acts like I’m calling my phone.

Can I assume that by having Apple Carplay, Mobile Assistant is not included? Or is there something I missed? Any settings I should check?

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks!

When I read the owners manual I remember Siri Eyes Free being included. Have you tried holding down the voice assistant button? For me in CarPlay I have to hold the voice assistant button to get Siri, not the off hook switch.

Yes, in Carplay, I use the Voice Assistant button and Siri works perfectly fine.

When in bluetooth mode, holding down the Voice Assistant button doesn’t bring up Siri, but instead it brings up the Lexus assistant. If I hold down the Off Hook button, it just brings me to the phone. So I’m out of options…
