Fix for Infotainment Rebooting problem?
Just bought a 2015 IS350 with 55k miles yesterday from a local Toyota dealership. Was incredibly disappointed on the ride home to realize it had this awful issue with the head unit constantly rebooting? I was just wondering if there has been a fix for this issue yet? If so, what kind of repair bill would I be looking at? Also, are there any aftermarket workarounds like android auto or car play units or anything like that that may be more affordable? I’d really hate to have to return this car over such a stupid issue. I’m getting ready to sit down with someone at the dealership now to talk about it. And yes I have been reading threads on here looking for my answer but haven’t found it yet.
There are more than several threads on here about this and similar issues.
I'm assuming you haven't read them all yet to see all the proposed fixes to this.
Ultimately the issue is the radio that is causing this...and it you're lucky, you might be able to fix it without replacing parts or it costing anything...but there is a high probability the radio will need replacing.
You mentioned aftermarket units as a workaround...those units piggyback on an already fully functional radio, so no, they would not work.
Things to try:
1. Hard reboot...hold down the radio power **** (the one on the left) until the system reboots, probably about 20 seconds or less
2. Disconnect the battery for at least 30 minutes and reconnect
3. Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, remove the micro SD card from its slot in front the shifter, then reconnect the battery. When the system finishes booting up, insert the micro SD card
There is a chance with number 2 and 3 above that the rebooting will stop, but you'll also end up with just a blank(black) display screen.
The display is just a monitor for the radio...so the issues you are having have nothing to do with the display, it's all about the radio.
