Tire Damage 2021 IS350
Hey I noticed my rim got scratched and the tire got slightly damaged as well. I didn’t hit anything and don’t think anyone hit me while parked as only the rim and tire were damaged. Body of the car has no scratches or damage so I’m thinking something on the road while driving may have scratched the rim and tire. Please advise on whether I need to replace the tire or anything I should keep an eye on. Tire pressure for the tire (front driver side tire) was all good. Just drove on the highway and the tire pressure was stable and didn’t go down so I’m pretty sure there’s no air leak. Please advise whether continuous driving will eventually cause this tire to get more damaged and what I should do. Car is 2 months old

^^ That sucks From what I have seen recently, the finish for the rims in the US is very challenging to repair....
As for the tire, I would watch it - It is hard to tell for sure on teh pic but I would try and see if you are covered for road hazard. I know here in Canada, as part of teh purchase, I have a 1 year road hazard from the dealer no questions asked. It may be worth looking into but if I was out of pocket, I would try and hold off

I had a way worse sidewall rip than you, I was told to change the tire for safety. Drove on the tire till the beads showed and everything was fine. Yours is very minimal, if you want, just super glue it or just tear it off without pulling too much off (if that makes sense)

If you are worried about the tire, a tire shop may be able to tell you for sure... But keep in mind, they also want you to buy their tires.
For the rim, the wheel repair shop will need to be able to work on PVD chrome wheels - no spray paint will suffice. My two cents - color over it with a Sharpie and call it a day, or else make absolutely sure the wheel repair guys know how to work on this wheel first.

This happened to me before. I clipped a curb and the wheel sliced a piece of the tire on the sidewall just like you have there. Regardless of how it happened, you should replace the tire. The sidewall gets a lot of stress on the road, and one good pot hole or raised sewer cover at the right speed will give you a flat. Once that happens the chances of the tire holding air again are low. I thought I would be ok to drive like that but I hit a lump at 30 mph and got a flat immediately afterwards. I tried to pump the tire up at a gas station and it would not hold air. This was on a Sunday and I was luck to be a couple of blocks from a 24/7 tire shop.

Yours appears to be just light damage to the thick "rim protection" rubber flange that did its job.

The rim being damaged in that spot indicates to me the sidewall might have been pinched, if there's internal damage that sidewall might bubble out near the damage and you will have to replace it, or it could just blow out in that area next bad bump you hit.
I have to replace my rears now after I had a sidewall bubble out from a pothole hit a couple months back, wasn't even apparent there was any damage at the time.

Since you said there's no pressure loss, it should be fine for a bit. I have a chunk missing on a tire there- thankfully it's a bit of rim guard rubber.
Check with a tire shop if you wanna be sure, but no bubble and no leak means good to drive.
Watch your pressure and check that tire often.
