Touren TF01 Rims for Winter Lug Nut Question
Hi,
I will be running 17 inch touren rims with toyo winter tires for the coming winter season. I bought them from a previous 17 IS300 owner for my 16 300 fsport

When I went to install them the past weekend, I realized that the factory lug nut will not work. They are simply too big. I did have a set of spline lug nuts lying around but they do not have the same look as the factory in the sense that the factory lug nuts extend "into" the rim whereas the spline ones sit at the surface when tightened. If you have knowledge of these lugs then my description might make sense, otherwise my apologies for my poor description lmao - just google Toyota lug nuts and you will see the difference of what I am referring to when I say they go "into" the rim.

Because of the difference in lug design and not wanting to risk damaging the car, I have decided to ask you guys if the aftermarket spline lug nuts will work just fine. Upon application they went on well without issue. It just seems odd that the OEM lugs for the fsport rims seem so much more secure than the AM. Just don't want the wheels to develop any play or worse - fly off down the road LOL. I will be torquing to factory 79 ft lbs. I am still driving on my OEM wheels until I know for sure.
Also, I don't think I need a hub ring or whatever that I have been reading about. I have emailed Touren about this but if someone knows and can let me know, I would appreciate it.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Aftermarket rims use a tapered seat for the lug nuts to make it a more universal fit.
It's not feasible to make rims that fit the factory nut (or bolt as the case may be) as there is a wide array of fasteners that OEM manufacturers use.
So to make it easy, the rims have a tapered seat, and most of the aftermarket nuts also have the same tapered seat.
Your White Knight nuts will be fine.
As for the hub ring you will need them.
The IS hub is 60.1mm...the Touren rim hub is 72.6mm...therefore there is a gap between the hub and rim that is 12.5mm.
You will need hub rings that have an outer diameter(OD) of 72.6mm and an inner diameter(ID) of 60.1mm. You can find them on eBay, or maybe Amazon.
You could also check a local rim/tire shop...they usually have the more popular ones in stock. If you go to a local shop, bring one of the Touren rims with you to confirm the hub ring fits in it...if it does and the inner diameter is 60.1mm, then you're good to go.
