Good afternoon! I'm having a problem with clipping in my rear bumper to the rear passenger side bumper support. I've searched the forums and found similar issues but no resolves.
It seems that my problem is that the bumper clip sits too low or the support sits too high, however both look to be in their correct positions and the other side is clipped in just fine.
I bought the car used 2 years ago and it has been an issue since I bought it. My warrenty is up as well. I have inspected for obvious signs of damage to the bumper if it had been previously hit but I cant find anything and wasn't told about it.
so before I bring it in for service or purchase new parts I was looking for any suggestions.
Current thoughts: 1) remove support and try to position it slightly lower on the body. 2)drill through tab and put a screw in to hold tab in.
I'm not sure if you've pulled the fender liner out completely in that area to see the support, but the support is actually a pretty large piece.
Based on your closeup pic it looks like several parts are misaligned.
I would first check to see if the support is broken, which wouldn't be unreasonable, and if so, replace it and then start reassembling everything properly.
Even your first pic looks like the bumper isn't sitting correctly against the fender...I wouldn't be surprised if this thing has seen the inside of a body shop before.

Well thats disappointing, I actually haven't removed the liner to inspect. Probably a logical first step. Thanks!
Call me crazy, but something doesn't look right with the metal behind the upper part of the clip on the side in question.
It's a little far to tell, but obviously body work has been done there in comparison to the good side.

Sasnuke, exactly right. I pulled the one part over and it now sits correctly. Upset with the fact that it has been worked but at least cosmetically it looks okay now. Thanks!

Looking good now!!
The good news is no one can under there, so it will be your little secret.
