I've already talked to some of you on this subject but I am stuck between the two... I've narrowed it down to these 2 TSW wheels. Still stuck on which to get... Top (Sebring in matte black) or Bottom (Clypse in gloss black). Going on a Black 2014 IS350 F-Sport. Getting them in 18x8.5 +40 offset. I'm going to get RS-R Down Springs in the very near future.
What do you think I should go with?
I had no idea how to make these pictures smaller lol
Ill put my vote in for #1, and not just because I have them, but because #2 option, while still a good looking wheel, looks similar to tons of other wheels out there as it is just a basic 10 spoke design, while #1 is an uncommon design, but awesome look (imo)

That’s why I’m so torn between the two. The Sebrings offer a unique style but I also love the classic 10 spike design of the Clypse. I have been thinking on this for a few days and have yet to come to a conclusion aha
I am not a fan of aftermarket wheels in general myself, however, based on the 2 options I will provide my feedback and hope it can help.
I prefer option 1 - I love the pattern, it is more unique and in my opinion, will age better when washed. I am worried the gloss look will show more fine scratch while washing. That being said, the busier wheel pattern will be a bit more tricky/difficult to wash the inner part of the rim unless of course you get a little brush and work it in. When I shop for a vehicle, first thing I do is put my hand in the rim to see it will fit and make sure I can wash the whole thing easily - I am OCD with car detailing and making sure my toy is ALWAYS clean - It won't even go out in the rain or any wet roads. The joy of being a weatherman, I never get caught in an unexpected shower (lol)
Again, I feel the 1st (top) is the best looking one out of the two...
How much time do you have for washing your car?
#1 is going to be a PITA, and you may regret your decision after a few washes.
From 50 ft away, they’ll look the same, just another black wheel. Not sure I’d get too hung up on ‘uniqueness’.
Going to have to go gloss here. 9.9 times out of 10, matte looks juvenile. any kid can go to his local auto parts store and matte/plastidip his wheels with zero talent, little to no prep, little skill. and they do, that's why it's so common.
you know a good gloss is professionally/factory done.
Gloss is superior.
like design 1 better, but for me finish wins out on design. Satin might push it over the edge for me.
I'd go for #2 in this case. I'm usually not a fan of matte black wheels. To me they typically look like they were plastidipped or spray painted. Also...

This is one of the main reasons I want to go aftermarket - stock wheels are 20 spoke. I'd like something a bit easier to clean. Lol
While I love the look when my stock wheels are clean, I'm not a huge fan of the time it takes to wipe each spoke/pocket out. I'm not the type to simply wipe the front and leave the wheels looking dirty in the pockets either.
I can say that even though #1 has "matte" in the description, it is actually a Satin finish, it has a very noticeable shine and luster to it in person, looks nothing like Plasti dip (even plasti dip + glossifier looks like trash compared to the finish on the Sebring)
Also, they are certainly harder to clean than a simple design wheel, but it wasn't that bad once I got a decent microfiber wheel brush set in different sizes and I own a power washer, I can clean them pretty quickly, so it's not too bad for me.
But obviously choices like this are personal preference thing, everyone has their own preference and look they like or don't like.

This ^^^^
I mentioned this elsewhere, seems appropriate here as well: "Cosmetic surgeon once told me that if a patient comes who is 8-9/10 in appearance, they discourage them from trying to perfect their looks, it rarely creates that significant of an improvement. I think a lot of the "appearance" mods on our cars add little to no value, or decrease their curb appeal. A good example is ugly/ricer wheels or wheels that look almost identical to OEM that cost hundreds."
Both wheels are nice, but at the end of the day, they add limited class/value or curb appeal beyond OEM.

Yep. When it comes to a lot of blacked out/GRRRRR'd out/bro'd out mods, By trying to be different, you end up being the same as everyone else. I mean if you like it, do it. but if it's to impress someone or to stand out, it's not worth it. No one will care, know, or remember after 5 minutes
also i was going to point out wheel 1 is satin and not matte, however i think its possible the pic was just an example of style of wheel. so i just pictured that wheel but in matte.

Brushes would make cleaning a little easier I guess. A few of my stock wheels were curbed by the previous owner and then fixed by the dealer. I don't use brushes on any of the wheels for fear of damaging the paint since I know it's not 100% the original finish. Also, it didn't even click that this "matte" is the exact finish you have on your car. I'm ok with satin. That looks nice. it's the plastidip looking matte finishes that usually look really cheap to me.
