I tend to get a different used car every couple years but never leased. Seems like the best way to go if wanting brand new. I may be doing this on the next car but need to research....preferably without the sales people at the dealer lol. All I see are $2500-$4000 down plus tax and 10k miles a year, doesn't look great. My credit is killer right now so has me thinking...what other options are there. The 48 mo sounds better, but $0 down?

Never ever ever go for the advertised so called "deal".

Always negotiate a lease as if you were purchasing.

I leased a 2021 IS 350 fsport RWD in January. (MSRP was $46,,000)

Zero down, zero drive-offs.

$460 per month for 35 months with a 15,000 mile per year allowance. Total cost to drive it 45,000 miles is a tad over $16,000

This thread is going sideways. But that’s okay.
Regardless of lease or buy, availability is an issue, right?
I was hoping to have ten 350s at each dealership at this point.
But, the sparse availability is not Lexus specific, I assume.

Nice. I'll be sure to be well researched when I get to that point.

They often do. 350 should be easier to find new than used, and yes availability is an issue. Seemingly nationwide and sounds like Canada too. Across many makes/models.

Remeber the dealership wants to sell you a car as much as you want to buy one. If I have something very particular in mind I search 200 mile radius, and then 500 if I have to. You may find something you just have to drive a bit to get, or have delivered which is negotiable too. Dealers MIGHT look for you or your lender may have a service to locate/deliver a vehicle as well. I dont use those services but see them available.

I got 10k CDN off my 2018 IS300 AWD in 2019 and I'm not a master haggler, it's the current climate. Want deals on a new car?, wait for 2024.

I searched 6 dealers near me, and the inventory was sparse. Two to three vehicles, a mix of 300s and 350s.
I saw some 350s in the 50K+ MSRP range. The price reflected the ML sound, rather than the DHP.
Maybe I saw one DHP amongst all the dealers. I am going to hold out for at least a 15% discount, if possible.
Old news, but is this due to the chip shortage, really?
I have a different take.
I see the shortage and inflation resulting in increased prices in the future. You might think prices are high now, I don't think that's going to change any time soon and prices will head higher. So if you are going to buy new, I look at it this way...
Most dealers are charging and getting full MSRP because they can - there's no inventory. If you're going to pay close to full MSRP, order a 2022 exactly how you want it which you'll get Oct/Nov rather than pay full MSRP for a car at the end of the model year. Since the difference in resale price per model year is about $5k by my estimation, this will save or gain you $5k on your purchase.

I inquired about the status of the IS I ordered and the dealership told its on “build status”. What do they mean by that? Where in the process is that? How much longer is that from delivery?

The largest Lexus dealer on the planet has four IS350 F Sports in stock. So if they have 4, your average dealer would have -6. (Minus 6) lol

Was just at my dealer today, and a sales rep told me they are going to be sold out of IS 350s "for a month or two". The only new IS they had on the lot was a Grecian Water IS 300 RWD. He also said that they had some coming in on special order in the next few weeks, which is neat.

It is rough right now. Very limited Supply. I was forced to buy a new car because my current car was hit by a girl and was totaled. Very long story short... Do not expect any wiggle room on MSRP. Only saving grace is low interest rate. Took me two weeks to find a car. Had to drive 5 hours to get it. You will find that a lot of the dealerships are not willing to ship their cars to another dealership. So if you find one you're more than likely going to have to drive to go get it.

I agree. Inventory is very very scarce everywhere. I was able to secure one that was already built and was coming into my dealer that had everything on it I wanted minus ML. I guess I will just add some good speakers and amp at a good Audio shop. Thankfully my dealer was MSRP and the $1500 off with Lexus cash. And they have not had many on their lot. A bunch built & coming in like mine, but most had deposits on them so thankfully their sole Infrared one did not so I changed that quick. Plus they gave me a ton for my trade in GS350. Maybe because they see it and it gets maintained there at that dealer. Car arrived at port on 7/6 so now just have to wait until it gets shipped to the dealer. The wait sucks lol

It's not as brutal as some of you make it sound, at least here in San Diego. I am getting emails and texts from multiple dealerships almost every day, begging me to come in and test drive it. I already have, and test drives aren't allowed on sold cars. So, most dealerships have 2-3 in stock at any given time and are all within a 50 mile range. That said, I'm waiting for the IS500.

Well good for you. Guess you have plenty to pick from. Alot of people do not in THEIR areas.

I’m also getting numerous calls and emails from my dealer.
They want my well maintained IS as a trade in.
I feel like asking when I can get my usual 15-20%
discount off the MSRP on a 350.

Depends on how many they have in stock.

It's been impossible for my local dealer to keep the 350s in stock. We got $2k lease cash, and that's it. They gave us a decent deal on our trade otherwise.
