Default Storage

I recently got a 2021 IS350 and absolutely love it, especially driving large trucks and suvs for years However, I had no idea how little interior storage I would be facing in the IS. Do you have any tips, tricks, or accessories you recommend? For example, I don’t have a good answer for storing sunglasses or where to set my phone when it’s connected. My old vehicles have designated places for these.

Thanks

I store my sunglasses under the armrest, though I'm sure there are more elegant solutions. Then the cup holders come into play for the phone and sunglasses while driving(if it gets cloudy and the sunglasses need storage). Fine for me. Congratulations on the new car!!!!

If you lookup a center console tray on eBay you'll find one from multiple sellers, ships from China. May take a few weeks but the <$20 is well worth it. Had one in the IS and in my current CT. Better use of that space. This way I didn't have to toss my sunglasses in with my phone charger and other stuff I kept in the center console, instead sits on top.

Kept my phone on a mount which secured to the windshield in the bottom left corner, best spot imo. Good options online for sunglass holders which attach to the visor.

Center console lined with felt so just throw em in there. Phone, I have a magnetic mount that attaches to the middle section above seat climate control (where it says Mark Levinson Sound), before, I laid it down over my seat climate controls. Different mounts you can get

Thanks for all the ideas.. I’ll see if I can find a tray... so far no dice...I will also look at sunglasses clips.

I thought about mounting a magnetic holder below the CD player but I can’t glue something on a brand new car just yet.

In the meantime, this the best I’ve come up with for a phone holder. It gets the phone above the track pad and away from my tumbler. It’s not sleek but it works. If I have a passenger with a drink, they’ll just need to sit in the back seat if they want a cup holder . All kidding aside, that probably happens once per week. For that I can pull out the phone holder.

Current phone holder

Other things I’ve done so far to improve my storage downsizing:
- put all the OTC drugs I lugged around in little pill baggies (we’re a large family so there’s always someone with a headache, indigestion, etc).
- put as much loose stuff in an index card size accordion file (insurance card, AAA card, bandaids, OTC baggies).

any other pro tips?

The only thing about that is the phone is not in a good place for using navigation, or seeing other information you may need while driving.

I can't stand things bouncing around while I'm driving either. In the lower left corner of the windshield my phone comes out and kind of rests on the dash and A pillar, preventing it from bouncing with the road and if Im using Google maps it's easily seen.
