Default IS250 Entertainment System Issues - Cheap Fix

Hey guys,

I took my car in to the dealer for a separate recall. In the past few months, my radio will not turn on when I start the car and then randomly turn on and then do a reset loop. Sometimes the radio will work. So they took a look at my radio for free and told me that my navigation unit is screwed up and that I needed to replace the whole radio head and wanted to charge me 1800 for a remanufactured head unit. It looks like this is a very common problem.

I saw a few on ebay that were much cheaper. My question is could I replace my GPS unit with a unit that doesn't have GPS and will it work?

Also, are there any cheaper solutions? like third party units that may work?

The connections for the navi unit harness is different than the non-Navi, so no you can't swap units.
And yes this is a common issue where the radio head unit goes bad.

If you do buy a used one make sure it comes with the micro SD card for the Maps...or you will need to buy a new card...the cards are not swappable between units.
