Hello all, I recently got my friend into an 18' IS300. He's in love with the car but noticed shortly after buying it that there was some slight damage to the front middle section of the grill (pictured below). It's cracked and he wants it replaced. I have a couple questions; can the grill be removed without removing the bumper, and if so how many pieces is the grill (is it one big piece?). Also, can the F-Sport grill for the 18-20' IS models be swapped into the Non F-Sport bumper or would the F-Sport grill require an F-Sport bumper be swapped over as well? Thank you!
looking at Lexus part numbers, it appears the grill is separated into upper and lower pieces. That portion you indicated appears to be a part of the lower portion. With that being said it also looks like the part numbers between non-F-Sport and F-Sport are identical so it *should* be able to be used (53113-53902 by the way). As for the grill being removeable without removing the whole bumper, I'm about 90% certain the bumper needs removed completely, as there's clips that hold the grill in and require space which means removing the bumper.
Thank you so much for replying. There is very limited info and almost 0 in depth details. From my research the F-Sport and non F-Sport are significantly different. The F is two big pieces plus the surround and the non F is 3 pieces (top grill, mid section, bottom grill) plus the surround. I typically go to Amayama for parts but it won't recognize the VIN and I can only find the parts/diagrams for the PREfacelift 3IS. The part thats cracked looks like a fairly cheap piece of plastic but I doubt I'll be able to find that part anywhere as it hasn't even popped up on ANY of the diagrams I've found. The search cracks on...
So all I personally did was google "Lexus genuine parts," clicked on the first link, input 2018 IS300 F-sport versus non F-sport, and compared the diagrams and part numbers. Both were identical with exploded models and part numbers, If this yields the correct information or not is yet to be seen. However at least from what I've noticed these websites are typically pretty accurate.
And ultimately damn near anything attached to *most* front bumpers require bumper removal to replace. Obviously there's some outliers here and there, but anything I've worked on requires bumper removal. Typically only adds like 10 min to the process though. Some clips, a few screws, and carefully peel off.
Heck I even went back to a few different websites and put in info for a base 2.0 non f-sport vs 3.5 f-sport and what I'm personally seeing is no different from the info I originally gave you. Again, I could be wrong, but from my Degree in Google Research with emphasis in Parts Research and Acquisition, it seems to look like they're all the same
Ah you are correct. In my haste I didn't scroll down far enough and was looking purely at the non F-sport stuff the whole time. My epic fictional degree has let me down once again haha
I'm new to this and just recently purchased a used IS300 after being an Acura owner since the 90's. Loving the car but the fog light covers I did want to swap so this post was a god send. I'm a little confused on what i need as I've never done this before. I have the 350 fog light covers, the clips and the screws but do I need some sort of bracket? I don't know what I'm looking at in the picture. And aside from that, if all I wanted to change was fog light covers, is that all I need? I like the grill but I think I'll stick with the 300s one as I kind if like the chrome. Appreciate and information you might have!
