Thumping/thudding when stopping
Hey everyone. I get this weird thumping/thudding sound when I come to a stop. It sounds like something hard is falling over in the trunk. If you sit in your car and tap the bottom of your foot onto the carpeted floor it will make a similar sound. It doesn’t happen every time I brake to a stop, but it happens mostly when I’m stopping at a light/stop sign. Happens in all drive modes, and whether I come to a complete stop or near stop (Think TX/CA stop). Again, it’s not every time but maybe 30-40% of the stops. I cleaned out my trunk so there’s nothing back there that can fall over. I also made sure the spare tire was fastened down tight and the tools are secured. I’m thinking maybe a suspension component is lose, but not sure which part. Anyone else have this happen or have some ideas to troubleshoot? 2015 IS350 F sport 52k mi.

Have you checked the rear brakes yet?
As it only occurs when stopping and, I'm assuming, not when accelerating, the brakes seem like a good first place to start...granted it doesn't happen all the time.
