Default 2017 lexus is 200t tpms sensor reprogram issue

I recently took my car to a tire store to get a new tpms sensor and when they tried reprogramming it it didn’t work. And on my gauge cluster the screen for the readings is blank for all the tires. They tested all my sensors and they all work. So i took it to lexus to see what was going on and they said it’s because i used an aftermarket sensor. Is this true? Or could it be something else?

Most aftermarket sensors will in fact not register the pressures in the dash...

Welcome to the forum!

As mentioned above, because it is an aftermarket sensor it may not register the pressure on the dash, which in turns blanks out all the pressures.
If you want to see the pressure readings your guaranteed fix is an OEM sensor.
FYI...the sensors are made by Pacific Industries with the code PMV C010 on them...you could even look for a used one on eBay.

When I bought my wheels I bought some aftermarket sensors from a local tire shop. I just program them to the ECU each time I switch my wheels. Isn't this all that needs to be done?

That is correct, however most of the aftermarket sensors don't display the pressures, or inconsistently display the pressures.
If a tire does go low the warning light will trigger regardless of the sensors installed.

Interesting. I'd hate for my pressures not to show.

Yeah - I use aftermarket on my new wheels. When I first start the car the pressures come up as - - (dash dash). In less than a 1/10 mile they'll populate with the pressure. They do fluctuate a little more than the OEM sensors too. I should have used the OEM ones but wanted to have my stock wheels ready in case I needed them.

Why not get Pacific Industries PMV-C010 ....this is the OEM TPMS Manufacturer? You can usually find a brand new set of 4 for under $200. You won't risk having any problems with them vs an aftermarket manufacturer.
