Default CHROME DELETE (Window and Grille only)

Hello fellow IS owners,

just a general question for anyone who has had experience.

so I did my chrome delete with a shop in Toronto and it came out looking really rushed and in my opinion not very professional.

The reason they told me as to why it looked like that is because the car has extremely tight spaces. This shop also wraps super cars...

Anyone also did a chrome delete that could give me opinions or advice on this?

the shop is offering me to patch certain areas but it could be same result so I’m contemplating if I should bring it to another place that can do it.

Pics are attached.

Thanks for the help!

I would see what another shop says...To be fair though, super cars are known for some pretty bad panel gaps, door hinge alignment, and slight imperfections that people here would not find acceptable in a new 50K Lexus. Seems to be the norm for 'hand built' cars not from Japan.

That looks like how my DIY chrome delete came out. I would NOT have been OK with my car looking like that if I paid a shop to do it...

That looks terrible. That’s what you would expect from a DIY.

yeah it was really tight so it was done by freehand, according to the person handling my issue at the shop.

should I accept the patch? Cause I’m not sure if it’ll make it look cheap and choppy

Patching could make it look worse if you can see any seams. Plus you don’t want to risk them cutting vinyl on your car any more than they need to. I would just roll like that until you can have it painted, or taken some place where they can strip the trim items off car before wrapping if possible.

I actually tried to wrap my trim before and it was a complete failure. I ended up using plastidip for now but I plan to do the chrome delete by paint.

That chrome delete looks unprofessional. Looks like they let their intern or newest employee do it. I would ask for a refund, and find another shop to do it.

I would have them remove it, get a refund, and go to another shop.
Try to find a place that has done an IS before...it's not easy to do, and only someone that has done one before will be well versed on how to do it properly...but it can be done.

That looks like trash, I would've gotten a refund and taken it somewhere else.

Sorry OP, you deserve better.

they are offering to redo it and not patch it. So I will give it one more shot and hopefully they watch some videos and make it better.

I also seen this guy who did a DIY and it looks so much nicer.( link is below)

yup good call. Paying to have it done it should be 100% perfect for 6 months minimum. I'd ask for something in writing to that effect...they owe you that after sending you home with the way it looked and saying basically "well, it was hard". They would need to regain my trust with a warranty otherwise refund.

Where did you find the shop? Were they recommended to you? I checked out a couple shops before having mine done, and went with someone who had actually worked on Lexus cars. 3 years later, my wrap is still holding up perfectly.

I'll try to find pics of my DIY job but they didn't even look like that. those guys suck. thats how my first time DIY job looked until i practiced more.

They're cutting the wrap too close and not pre-shrinking, laying in etc. Not to mention the material they're using looks poopie.

I did this myself for the black chrome look using 50% smoke vinyl and turned out better then what the "professional " did
