All about Lexus IS No Sound (Volume) - Amplifier failure
Since my last post everything's the same, including today. On my way to tennis, took a wrong turn into a hood wasting 1/2 hour driving time, twas around 86° in the hot sun so decided to test A/C <- this is the ONLY THING DIFFERENT.
Parked around 1.5 hours for tennis, started up again, and wtf... SOUND WAS ON!! lol Made my way to WLMRT to pick up some stuff, and thought "damn sounds NOT gonna work starting up again" but it's still on. Left the trunk panels OFF in case sound's off again tmrw - will update later.

OK, well this SUX d big bag, POS decided to NOT WORK again today!! @Is350Zyzz i do however now agree this MIGHT NOT be the amp, but rather an intermittent issue. "SOMETHING" is causing the system to check in & out.
my refurbished amp is supposed to come in this Monday. Will let you know if it fixes the issue as soon as I install it.

I'd like to get any advice that might be available for the same situation.
2014 IS350 Fsport, ML system, approx 90K, garage kept, half its life in Las Vegas, half in Florida.
First loss of sound was 6 months ago, replaced sunroof vents in the trunk, removed amp, opened amp and no signs of corrosion or water damage, sent to United Radio and they found no issues and updated the software. Put a small damp rid bucket in the trunk and it sound restored. I believe this is due to drying out the amp while it was removed and having it sit inside in lower humidity.
Last week, lost sound again, seems to have been paired with the car being in outside in the rain and then pulled into the garage. There was/has been super high humidity for several days.
Current trouble shooting.
1. AMP fuses good.
2. System check has a B15C3 present, a B15A3 past, a B15DB past, a B15D0 past.
3. Sealed the passenger side sunroof trunk vent, when removed the rubber seal that is exterior to the trunk was wet. No signs of moisture in in trunk area.
4. Sunroof(?) drain line IVO amp is unclogged, no signs of water or moisture.
4.1. No signs of corrosion on amp connectors.
5. Passenger side foot well shows no sign of moisture, kick panel amp connector not checked.
6. Removed center console, inspected amp connector, no damage, no moisture, no corrosion.
After all the trouble shooting, remove and reinstall amp, driving for 10-15 with AC on, sound is back after a full off/on cycle.
Questions:
This is most likely an amp problem, right? The loss of sound is seeming pairing with large amounts of rain or high humidity. Will new, used, or refurb amp not just have the same problem?
The amp probably past UR inspection due to the dry out period?
@Is350Zyzz how is your refurb amp?
@LaZeR is you loss of sound paired with high humidity, driving through water, or rain? I think the sound restoring through AC running is probably from reducing the humidity?

Probably

If I had your situation, I’d likely extend the amp connection wiring and mount the amp above the floor, instead of in its current hole.

Not exactly objective nor scientific but try to be patient for as long as me and just leave everything the way it is.
How Much $$ did United Radio charge for the check up plus Shipping costs back & forth right?

For the inspection I did have to agree to flat repair charge of ~$475 if they didn’t find something wrong. They didn’t charge me this in the end.
u
unrelated to your question about cost. When the sound is working I do not have B15C3 code.

Wondering if anyone else has been dealing with these symptoms;
does this sound like a wiring/shirt issue somewhere in the wiring harness or is it still more than likely the amp? Based on people’s reported symptoms of the amp failure it seems like most people lose their volume control and the issue isn’t intermittent, so I’m hesitant to buy a new amp.
- i start the car in the morning; no sound, but volume controls still work.
- then the next time I start the car it still won’t work, but on the 3rd or 4th drive of the day it will start working, also it seems like the first 1 or 2 drives must be long for it to start working.
- this seems very odd to me, like it’s a power supply issue, like the initial 1 or 2 trips “power up” the amp, but not enough to get it to work, then eventually it on the 3rd or 4th drive it reaches its threshold to start working.

I know the car is 10 years old or close to it but given Lexus's reputation and how wide spread this issue has been for years, I'm still disappointed that there is no official support from the company. There should be a recall or at minimum a service bulletin that provides an official solution. This is definitely my LAST Lexus/Toyota product.

The only reason I’m thinking it may not be the AMP, is because it seems like most people on the forum who have had issues with the amp, also had their volume/sound settings impaired along with the no audio. It’s frustrating because it seems like the only way to diagnose if it’s truly the amp is you have to replace it.
@LaZeR I'm 4 weeks into my latest trouble shooting and repairs. I have not had issue with the sound since.
I sealed the passenger side sunroof vent flap. I used some glue to glue the rubber flap, then tapped over it with some tape. In hind sight I would have removed the vent and tapped over the hole. I added some silica dry bags next to the amp, and also refreshed a damp rid container I keep in the trunk.
My plan will be to swap out the bags in a couple more weeks.
Even here in Florida it has been low humidity with the colder weather, I hope these fixes will last once the rain starts back up and the humidity sets in.

Hey guys did anyone figure out what this can be ….
I own a 2017 is350 f sport suddenly my music stopped working i can’t raise the volume lower it or even see the volume “bars” on the top of the navagation ….
i figured it was the amp i replaced the amp and still nothing now i have an audio specialist telling me its “probably” my radio which i don’t believe him and im really not trying to spend 1200 on a radio for him not to be 100% sure
does anyone know what else this can be… or what else i should check
Thank you in advance

MOST with the same issue CAN see the Volume bars up / down, as well as tuning stations, so in your case it's weird that you can't -- the audio tech MIGHT be correct in your case.
