Default Black Navigation System

Hey all, I attempted to install carplay using 3rd party modules and harnesses but ended up with a blank nav screen. Same thing with OEM wires. All pins look fine, not sure what to check for first. Climate control works fine, however the navigation system along with the joystick is loose (not responsive to indicate menus). Not sure what to check first. I ran codes and got a CAN communication error, should I replace the battery? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd start by trying to pull the wires on your main battery and letting things reset. This should have been unhooked before attempting install.

Have you tried putting the system back to stock and confirm it still works properly? I sounds like something isn't connected between the screen and radio head unit.
