High Coolant Temp
Hi everyone,
Im having trouble with my 2016 IS200t high coolant temperature sign appears when I turn on the AC when not driving the car, the air tends to be like only coming from the fan blower (not cold air) and then after sometime the high coolant temp appears in the dashboard if AC is still on, but whenever I drive the car, temp gauge drops down to normal level and cold air comes. I checked the radiator fans, they are not turning on when temp start raising, checked the fans by feeding 12v from battery they both work, also checked the relays, they are all functioning well.
At this point, I have two more things to check, the wiring system and the temp sensor.
My question is: did anyone have same problem before and how did you fix it ?
Thank you!

I’m not sure if this is the problem but get your water pump checked out. My mechanic discovered mine leaking at 42k miles on my 16 200T and there have been reports of other members also having leaks.
Good luck man, sounds like a hassle.

This might seem obvious, but since you didn't mention it I'll ask.
Did you check the coolant level? Not just in the reservoir but in the actual system.
Ideally when the vehicle is cold, remove the rad cap and confirm there is coolant all the way up to the cap...also confirm the reservoir is at the Full mark when the vehicle is cold.
The fact the temp warning coincides with a lack of cooling from the AC sorta suggests the temp sensor is working.
However, if the the temp sensor, relays, and fans are all working, then there is no reason they shouldn't be running, unless there is a wiring issue, or the units that control the fans has an issue.
Each fan has it's own ECU, and those Fan ECU's are controlled by the Engine ECM...the temp sensor you reference is the engine temp sensor, so along with the warning the engine temp should be high as well...on the gauge.

Thank you Sanuke, I actually did check the coolant level both in the reservoir and the raditor and everything looks fine, as I stated before both fans are not turning ON when they supposed to, which is why the coolant temp is getting high. You brought valid points about the temp warning coincides with the lack of cooling from the AC and the point about the fans ECU. I will have them checked. Thank you for all the inputs.
