Bushing help with wear?
a while back there was discussion on stiffer bushings correcting the problem. Any updates or recommendations? If I have to own this another few years it might be worth it to do it but want to be sure it will actually help. Thanks
There is theory supporting firmer bushings as a solution to the problem, and I believe we've seen owners claim that firmer bushings do help. Of course there are minor NVH trade-offs with this, but it's up to you on whether that's a factor or not.
When you install them it's obvious there was a change to the vehicle, but like anything, you drive the car enough and you don't even notice it anymore.
So OP obviously make sure your alignment is good first.
after that.. nature of the car. cost of doing business. as i've said from the beginning, bushings will mitigate the front wear, but not eliminate it.
this class of car, and this car in particular is built with dynamic handling on the street in mind. So the suspension is tuned to move and deflect. The car is designed with stability in mind, wrapped around the context of performance.
Same deal with any AMG, BMW ///M, Porsche etc. They all have similar wear. Check their forums. I'm a member of them all!
People used to mock BMW etc for OMG REPLACE SUSPENZIONZ SO MUCH SO BAD QUALITY.
Well yeah.. you want to handle in the BMW class.. the suspension will wear. and wear quickly.
Wait til you guys 3IS subframe bushings start to wear. this car is still new.. but in 5 years time, this will not be a fun job.
