Hello, I am an owner of a 2017 Lexus IS and I have always struggled being able to see at night. The car is equipped with LED headlights and DRL's but shines light fairly low for a car that sits this low. Has anyone else noticed this or had an issue with them? I am wondering why the beam of the headlight only shines downward, and even with the high beams they just shine brighter and broaden the beams, but don't raise them. I also wonder why the car doesn't come with any cornering lights or fog lights lower on the bumper, there are just two artificial cooling vents in the bumper. Please let me know if you are experieincing poor headlight visibility in your IS with base LED headlights. Headlight visibility with high beams Headlight visibility without brights
I have a 2018 and I've only noticed poor visibility when in the fog because they got rid of the fogs for the 17-20 f sport model years. annoying as in the early morning here in southern california the marine layer brings in a ton of fog and i live in a valley so it sticks around for a while depending on the day's high.
otherwise, though, the visibility is totally fine. i would suggest to you to have your headlights adjusted higher to meet your needs. also, there are fog lights available for the non-f-sport models and that's what it looks like you have they just weren't available in the USDM market, but in the EDM and JDM markets, they were indeed available, so search online and you'll find them.

In both my IS and cla the headlight were ****e almost like luxury cars aren’t as good as normal ones. The ones on my 16 corolla light up road better than anything I’ve seen.
I have a 2014 and think the headlights are phenomenal, people flash their brights at me frequently thinking my brights are on....almost never need my high beams because the normal lighting is great from my perspective
When I bought my 200t a few years back, I had to adjust the lights up a slight bit from where they were. Helped quite a bit. Had a similar issue in my ES330 too - common issue with that model too. Lexus seems to be a bit conservative with calibrating their beam height in some models.
No problems with my 2015. Not the brightest, but I’d still classify them as good. Never had to turn on high beams because I couldn’t see but also have only been flashed at once or twice in 1.5 years for ppl thinking my regular lights were my high beams. Maybe you just need a bit of a position adjustment on them? Your light beams look a bit low in terms of positioning, like they should maybe be slightly higher. Wait for one of the forum guru’s to chime in.
On my 2017, the low beams could be better. They do a good job of lighting up the road in front of you but anything ahead is acceptable. However, I did turn on automatic high beams and they are fantastic when they turn on. They light up everything around me.
