On both of my headlights , I noticed some bubbling on the black base. Both areas are the same, right below and in front of the main low beam lens - anout 1/2 inch in front of the lens
Just to clarify, it’s not on the outer lens cover, but inside the headlight assembly, right between the DRL strip and the low beam light.
any ideas? Car is a 2012, 14k miles. All oem. Always garaged.
These are normal! The 2011 were the first ones to get this problem and they revised it for 2012-2013, 2014 IS-F), but the problem still persisted. There was a recall for them but I believe it's ended by now.

thanks nelly!
do they get progressively worse, or this is the extent of it ?
yes, known defect. The 2012-2013 added a small "eyelash" in the outer lens to try and combat this issue but still happens. Its from sun's incidental reflection thru the projector lens, creates a magnifying glass effect.
My 2015 Sienna SE had and continues to have same issues around the shroud ring. I made them swap the lights about 1 year in but new ones ended up doing it too.

thank you. Surprisingly this car gets almost no sun except for road trips it’s taken
Technically they are chrome blisters. They are defects in surface preparation prior to Chroming. Eventually they fixed it but normally would have shown in early years of production.
