Ambient lighting
Hey Guys,
I bought a 2015 Lexus IS250 F Sport back in January and I am going through it to refresh the little things that let the car down and show its age. I've covered most of the normal maintenance and wear items (missing trim, burned out lights, disconnected air vents, rubber pieces), added apple carplay, and swapped all of the interior lights for LED. However, I would really like to add "OEM looking" ambient lighting to modernize the interior. Now, I do not want to add something that is obvious with a visible light source, so the Mercedes style "outline" lighting is not what I am going for. Instead, I want to try to replicate the BMW 3 series ambient lighting. If you are unfamiliar, F30 BMW's have hidden led strips on the doors that shine downward (but the light source cannot be seen), single recessed LED's in the ceiling light clusters that shine down on the center console, and dim footwell lighting front and back.
I would love to hear your suggestions about what you have done, and if you have found ambient lighting that is not so bright as to overwhelm the cabin at night, with bonus points for clean wiring suggestions. Thanks!!
Chris
