I have an appointment this Friday, July 17th. I'll update when I hear back from them.

I have to agree that I have a hard time understanding why an amp would cause a rebooting issue. Unless there is an amp software driver that is causing it. My radio works just fine in terms of the audio coming through the speakers, it just keeps rebooting every 30-90 seconds.

That alone pretty much confirms there is nothing wrong with the Amp.
The Amp is a seperate entity to the radio, all the radio does is send a signal to it...it's up to the Amp to do the rest.
If you get sound, then the Amp is doing it's job.

Have you heard back from the dealership yet?

update: the amp did not fix the problem...as you guys predicted. so they are looking at the car again. Now they’re saying it’s wire harnesses that need to be replaced. a lot of uncertainties. Smh.

Also, I would like to point out that there was an over the air update done on 6/30/20. This problem started the morning of 7/1/20. Im not sure if this could have glitched my car’s system. I mentioned this to the dealership. Does anyone have any experiences with the updates glitching their system?

Another member on another thread had the same issue after the OTA update...the dealer did a factory reset to the unit and it resolved the issue.
No specifics of what exactly was done for the factory reset.
I can only assume they went into the Navi menu and selected Factory Reset...like if you were trading in the vehicle and wanted to wipe out any personal data and reset all the customizable options back to factory.

Thanks for the info. I’m picking up my car this weekend with no fix. This is such a hassle. Has anybody heard back from their dealership? Thanks

So I took mine to dealership. They said they connected with someone at Lexus corporate.....some sort of tech engineer. They kept my car over the weekend to do a complete power drain. I question if it really was drained all the way because my radio station presets were still there after I got the car back. In the end, they said the head unit was bad. However, again, this rebooting issue started from the very first time the unit restarted after I downloaded and installed the over the air update. Dealer quoted $2000 for new head unit. I am far from ok with this due to timing and that I am not only one affected.

I wrote letter to Lexus and had a case representative call me back noting that they will do nothing further. He suggested I take it back to the dealer, again, and have them run a TAS report to see if any other dealer in the country has had similar complaint from other Lexus owner to see if they can piece together a pattern and a fix.

This stinks to high heaven. Any suggestions for further steps? Do I contact state consumer protection? Do I contact lawyer? If I'm not the only one maybe a class action suit would be advisable? (I'm not the suing type by any means, but this is ridiculous).

@chowd3r A few comments on your post...I realize this is frustrating.
I question if it really was drained all the way because my radio station presets were still there after I got the car back. This is possible since replacing the battery we not erase the presets. The only thing it should have effected was your clock.
This rebooting issue started from the very first time the unit restarted after I downloaded and installed the over the air update. Did you attempt to go into the Navi menu and do a Factory Reset yourself?
He suggested I take it back to the dealer, again, and have them run a TAS report to see if any other dealer in the country has had similar complaint from other Lexus owner to see if they can piece together a pattern and a fix. I actually have to agree with this. The dealers are not connected together to know what issues the others have run into. TAS is the Technical Assistance department for the dealers. As dealers open various TAS cases for vehicle issues, the information is stored in the TAS database. They(at TAS) can see how many vehicles have had this issue, where they were, and how they fixed it...assuming it was fixed. Your dealer may call TAS and ask them if they have seen this issue, and TAS may turnaround and say they have seen this happen before and the fix is "blah". It really could be that simple. But the dealer will never know unless they open a TAS case.

hey I just thought I’d update anyone still having this issue (I have an 2014 IS250) and I have been having the similar issue after my last update a few days ago.. called dealership and was given no assistance but was told I could pay $310 to have it diagnosed. So I called enform system .. no help. I ended up calling Lexus customer service general inquiries and ended up with a lady named Carol who had a service tech walk me through deleting personal data from the dash. It actually has fixed my issue surprisingly so I thought I would share directions..

Select Menu/set up/general/scroll down to delete personal data. Complete this process 2x and then press and hold Audio/Power button for 5 seconds and wait for reset. Saved me $310!

Default Radio issue

I began having the looping issue about 6 months ago. Disconnecting the battery partially worked. I at least had music intermittently afterwards but it's gone now. System goes from the Lexus Enform screen to the caution screen and back and forth nonstop. I read a reply where someone stated it's the radio head unit and buying a used one solved the problem, so I'm buying a used one in hopes of the same outcome. Does anyone else have experience with installing a used unit? Should I get a new SD card afterwards? They are more than $1,000 at the dealer. Def not paying that. Any suggestions would be helpful.

You will probably need one, as I read that the head unit will not accept a card that wasn’t initialized by it. My used car didn’t have a card, so I bought one on eBay (probably cloned or hacked, and came from some Eastern European country) and it worked.

Did your nav still work with the new card?

Yes it did (nav didn’t work without the card when I bought it), it was the latest available maps at that time. Still have that card in the car since the roads around here don’t change much.

Default I fixed mine

I had the same issue. Screen reboot, no radio and usb ports dead- but everything works fine when the screen stays on, back up camera still worked.. I’ve read it’s a common issue & first I disconnected the battery for 10 mins, once with the sd card in- once without.. didn’t get a black screen so that told me I didn’t have a dead head unit..

which lead me to the fix!! Look up your model under Lexus software updates and see if you have an update. Mine did, so I loaded it up and after many, many reboots I finally got it to stay on long enough to download the update… and bam, that fixed the issue. As of now it does not reboot. Will update after a few days if anything changes.
