Default Quick question about how the water inlet assembly works

Hello,

How exactly does the inside of the 2GR-FSE's water inlet work (as in, how the water flows through it, as if it's a single hollow piece or if it is 2 separate compartments for the inlet and outlet.) What I mean by the water inlet assembly is this part here:

Basically what I want to know is what the inside of the water inlet assembly looks like. Thanks! (ignore the arrows)

This image partially answers your question. The inside of the housing is hollow with the thermostat being the stopper that opens and closed to let coolant circulate.
