I’ve recently purchased a front Black pearl emblem off a seller on eBay, however I feel like it almost looks like the regular chrome. For those who have the black chrome emblem, is this how yours would compare to the regular chrome ones as well?

 

That looks about right. what brand? there's the official one and people who paint them.

Purchased off eBay with a seller that goes by nyc-auto-parts. He claims that they’re plated and the guy that does it use to plate them back in Japan, if that’s any true.

 

Correct. I’ve heard about people applying 2k clear coat over them and it seems to work. The seller I purchased them from says they were properly plated and won’t flake but I’ll still spray the 2k for extra precaution.

 

That's a good idea. I have a black pearl emblem, and it has flaked in a couple of areas. It is 3 years old.

 

is anyone able to find the black chrome model emblems? i can source the "L" Lexus emblem, but I can't find the IS 300 emblems in black pearl.

 

The heat in Arizona is also very brutal.

 

I ended up using the emblem on my GS. I’m not satisfied with the finish. I still feel like it isn’t dark enough.

No kidding, I've had to replace my battery every 2 years. I'm on my 3rd one on a 6yo car.
