Hello friends. I have a Lexus IS300H 2015 and I want to order this part (apexi throttle controller) . I wanted to know from people who put it together. What advantages are disadvantages? Is it recommended or not? Thanks
I saw this video too. I really want to install it. But want to hear recommendations from people who installed it What are the drawbacks? And does that cause a problem to the engine.
I had this installed for a while on my IS200t. It was pretty decent, but when I would put my car in sport mode (which I usually keep it in, after it's fully warm), the throttle would become way too sensitive - almost like an on/off switch.

This unit does not add any power to the vehicle. What it does is modifies the input from the pedal to the ECU to be more aggressive. It has a few different "level" settings on it, but lets say at a middle level you push your pedal 50%, the unit will send to the ECU that it is being pushed at 75% to give the 'feeling' of more power, but no actual power is gained, just more aggressive pedal response.
The highest setting (when it's lit red) is basically just wide open throttle as soon as you hit the gas, you can achieve the same thing by flooring your pedal, but the Apexi Unit might floor it 0.5 seconds faster.
I am over simplifying things and using random numbers in my example but that is what this unit does, it takes your pedal input and send more throttle to the ECU than you actually are pressing the pedal.
Lexus spends millions of dollars to tune their engines for reliability. Sport/Sport+ does that job very well. You take great risk changing that tuning. Granted this only controls the throttle body, not the timing. But you want to ask yourself: is it worth the risk frying/damaging the sensitive electronics on this car for a "perceived" difference of power. Vs tried and true methods of I/H/E first. Those would net you 10-15 hp, which you might notice.
So what would you advise me to do to get a little more power or quick response from my vehicle? IS300H 2015
Unfortunately not at this time for the Hybrid models. Thanks for thinking of us!
Thanks for the clarification
@Efratsege : damn sorry buddy, looks like the tuner is not available for the hybrid, that's sad because it is an amazing upgrade. I apologize that I didn't even notice the 'H" when you mentioned your car, I honestly forgot hybrid versions of the IS even existed lol, I'm glad you caught it. You don't have very many good options for additional power then. You can do exhaust and headers but those are only going to net you 10-25 HP in gains and are a bit pricey. Also I do not suggest an intake that replaces the stock air box as you will likely actually lose power, but gain sound.
