Default Driving mode mileage?

anyone test their mileage in the different driving modes?

I ask because when I switch it down to "ECO" mode, it feels lethargic (as expected).
I was wondering if making it so noticeably lethargic actually hurt mileage....
My previous car (impala 3.6 305 HP) had decent power and mileage from stock. But I got a tune put on it and it increased the power noticeably. It also INCREASED the mileage it got...all with more power.
Obviously they are two different cars, but wouldn't it be "easier" for the car to maintain 65-70 with more power?
---Just some silly ramblings--maybe i should have put this in "ask anything" thread instead

Yeah, I believe this topic has been brought up a few times before. In theory, and I emphasize that it's in theory, Eco mode will help to save fuel by reducing operation of the climate system, especially heat, as well as being less aggressive on throttle. However, I'd say your real-world benefits are not noticeable at least in my experience and based on what others have stated here on CL. Though, then again, I have seen some members who claim to drive in Eco mode most of the time, so perhaps they find it helpful? FWIW, it didn't make a difference for me, so Normal was my usual mode.

Agreeing with arentz07, ECO mode and normal mode all the same. I used to drive in eco mode all the time thinking it saved gas but it reality it was the same. Since then i rarely drive in ECO mode. All depends on heavy your foot is

ECO mode did nothing for me as far as fuel savings, just introduced dangerous levels of throttle lag.

I'm in normal mode most of the time now.

In my view, the point of ECO mode is to assist you in driving more conservatively e.g. the reduced input HELPS you to accelerate slower/drive less aggressively. Going into ECO mode while mashing the throttle trying to accelerate faster as if in normal/sport mode will not provide any benefits. If you are not in the mindset of driving "like a grandma," then ECO mode won't improve your MPG. Again, this is just my view on it.

I drove primarily in Eco mode when I first got my car. I didn't notice any difference in gas mileage, and don't have
a lead foot. I leave it in Drive now.

I've had mine in eco for the last 3 days and I'm definitely getting a couple more mpg during highway cruising at 70-80 mph (maybe due to the eco affect on the climate system - it's already getting warm in South Texas). For the city portion of my commute, though, I'm inclined to agree with pngo and jnp1227 above. Using the same throttle inputs (meaning pedal position only) I'm getting a noticeable increase in mpg, but it's sluggish and frankly not very fun. I have a very heavy foot, so the mileage change from Normal to Eco is probably more pronounced for me. The minor fuel savings aren't worth giving up the pleasure of driving a sporty sedan, so I'll be going back to Normal/Customized with the sporty suspension setting.

The only thing I've found Eco mode useful for is driving in the rain (at least in a 350). The reduced throttle response makes it perfect for not spinning the rears in 1st gear from a stop, especially when making turns from a stop.

I have a 200t and I just keep it in sport 95% of the time. The other 5% being warm up & cool down of oil temps (eco/normal mode). I average about 24-27 mpg per tank 60% city 40% highway.

I meant to reply here with my information but I think I put it in another thread by accident! HAHA. Oh well. Of all the irony, about 4-5 weeks ago I decided to give ECO a try on a permanent basis and see how I liked it. I don't drive hard so I haven't noticed much of a performance difference. However, I'm definitely getting better mileage. Normally a full tank of gas registers at about 357 miles until empty. Every time I've filled up since then, it's steadily crept upwards. When I filled up a couple days ago it was 409 miles until empty. My average MPG has also steadily crept up as well. When I started this little experiment I was at 23.3 and now I'm at 23.7. I've got a 2015 IS200t F Sport.

I'm still averaging 18-19mpg on ECO because I'm mostly driving city roads. I'm thinking about looking into lighter rims to see if that can help with improving my MPG. I'd be happy with 20-21 city

I feel like I'm mostly city as well, but we seem to be way off in our MPG average. Guess I should be happy with my 23.7 haha

23.7 is excellent for an IS with mostly city.
