So I just got my car back from the shop and one of the things that was done was my front bumper was replaced as a clip was broken and there was a slight crack in it under the headlight. Anyways I can’t help but notice how off the paint looks.
When I brought it up to the manager of the shop he told me it’s the same color it’s just because it’s a plastic piece and not metal so it’ll be a little different but the difference seems more than a little to me.
When I look at it it seems way more glossy than pearl and just throws me off so much. What should I do? Could this be that my car needs to be detailed and paint corrected to match with that bumper or is the bumper simply not the right color?
The first picture is a comparison between the front bumper and the fender and the second picture is a comparison to the rear bumper and fender. I tried using the back to see if what he said could be true but even the back plastic piece matches way better than the front. Any inputs?
As for what to do, idk. One thing I would ask him is if he blended the paint through the bumper and fender/hood (which he clearly did not) and ask why not. Usually to paint a bumper and get the closest match one would need to also paint a good portion of the surrounding areas on fender/hood to blend the 2 paints together. Idk how to do it just know thsts common practice, and was not done in this case.
Any paint will technically never be an exact match ever again. This is why they blend the 2 to overlap and hide some of those differences (idk if "blend" is the most appropriate word).
I've had this in the past but was on my economy car Nissan which also had a 3 stage pearl white color. The difference could be told between the bumper and the metal panels, from the factory. Although most wouldn't notice, I did in the right light. But I know yours was never like that to begin with. So he has a point about that, but your concern is valid it's not like it was before...

White is one of those colors that's tough to match. Even with a paint code for that particular white, it'll never be exact and only be close. I had the same problem on a BMW I owned.
