Hope you are ok. Yep, that is definitely totaled. Same thing happened to me in my 18 Honda Accord 3 months ago, hence the reason why I have my IS 300 now. Luckily my settlement was more than what I owed on the car so my insurance came through really well.
Another stupid driver likely being distracted by their cell phone! Why people can't pay attention when they drive, it is the basics of what it means to be behind the wheel!! I get so annoyed by seeing these kind of senseless accidents that just drive the cost of insurance for all of us, not to mention putting people's lives at risk.
OP - I am super glad you made it OK! What are you planning on replacing your IS with?

cop told me she told him she looked down for a second, started accelerating, and that was a wrap. She didn’t even try to stop. You’re right. I think she was on her phone.
as for a new car, I haven’t a clue right now. I just know I loved my car to death. Treated her like family. And now she’s gone forever.
^^ I hope her insurance go through the roof to teach her a lesson...I have ZERO sympathy for people that makes choices that reduces their awareness when they drive...It is a lethal weapon and should not be treated lightly. I get that most accidents are distractions, a moment or inattention and such, but I can sympathize with that, but people that drink, use drugs or a cell behind the wheel with ALL the awareness that is being made about these, then sorry, I don't give a hoot about them. I know it sounds harsh but that is my view on it....
I had a 2015 IS350 AWD F Sport (and a 2017 one too) and I agree, it was a GREAT car!! In fact, I still miss my 2017 so much! I know that there is likely a brand new IS coming out soon (in about a year) but given that it will be a 1st year model, I would hold off anyway...would getting a 2020 IS interest you? especially since you are very fond of the vehicle? Regardless, keep us posted, I will be curious as to what you get ...

if I got another 3IS it’d be another IS350 AWD, but instead I’d get an F-Sport model. Mine was a base. I really want a car with a manual transmission though. I would love it Toyota would come out with a manual option. But since even the Supra didn’t have a manual option, I’m not holding my breath.
As for a 2020 IS, no clue what they look like (if any changes). I usually don’t buy brand new cars. I let someone else buy and pay the initial depreciation.
The 2020 MT has not changed - So 2017+ all look the same. Yeah, manuals are a dying entity so you may have to revert back to an automatic. I agree, the F sport look really nice so if you can put your hand on one, I would strongly encourage you to get one....Especially if you are getting used. Few car companies are as reliable as Lexus and while I wouldn't worry about buying a German brand new, I would not buy one used and without warranty.
I get what you are saying about the depreciation of a new car...I personally don't mind as I like having a pristine vehicle and I am OCD on mine, but I know I am losing money by leasing and flipping cars every 2 years...but that is my "addiction of choice"
I got my IS300 in September, after my wife was in a wreck and totaled my Nissan. To say I upgraded would be a HUGE understatement. But I told her at the time, I can replace sheet metal.
It sucks about your car, but it did it's most important job, it kept you safe. You can replace it, even though it's no fault of your own.

before my 3IS, I owned a 2011 BMW 550i M-Sport. Had 79k on it. My god what a money pit. Owned it 6 mos. before throwing in the towel.
Sorry to see that happened, but also glad to see you're still among the living.
Unfortunately the 3IS still does not come in a manual trans, but if you like the car the refresh significantly upgraded the interior. Might be worth checking out. All the best either way.
Glad you're ok. That's the most important thing. Cars can be replaced. I'm sure you'll find something
that makes you happy. You may want to see a chiropractor. They are the best after an accident as far as necks and backs are concerned. Take good care.

Man o Man that SUX - what a waste!! I hate irresponsible/stupid/bad/cel fone drivers. What's her demographics - agewise, etc?
PS >>> in my opinion it's important for luxury car owners to always have Premium A+ insurance.
