Default Condensation in Headlights (Driver Side)

Hello,

I recently just purchased a pre-owned 2017 IS200t F-Sport. A couple days after taking the car home I noticed that the driver's side headlight has some condensation at night when it get's colder. I'm not too sure if it goes away during the day because it's still relatively cold. When I first took a look at the car I did not notice this, but now I have. I was wondering if this is normal?

Thank you for any assistance,

It is not desirable. Not sure if will lead to a failure. If you are under bumper to bumper warranty still, get it replaced now. If you are not under warranty, I would suggest drying it out by removing the turn signal bulb and then seeing if you get condensation again. The cost of the housing is $1000 for the part alone. Lexus seems to have the opinion that some condensation in the housing is OK and it states this in the owner's manual. However it does not state how much, how long, etc... If you are under warranty, request it be replaced now. In the longer term, the condensation can have two possible negative effects: 1) If enough condensation gets in there, you will get reduced visible light when driving at night. 2) A large amount of condensation may cause the LED control module to fail. This is not totally proven, but has been reported. I'm assuming your 200 has LED lights, but I could be wrong.

Default This is a recall

Hey!

so my 14 is350 had the same thing. There is an issue with the brackets on the housing unit under the hood cracking and allowing moisture in. Lexus should replace it for free!!!

Hello!

Thank you for the assistance. I appreciate the responses. I figured as such there must've been something wrong. I purchased this car from a used car dealer unfortunately not from Lexus. I now believe there was some repair work done on the front which is why the driver side headlight is fogging up. When I purchased the car the CarFax was clean/no accidents etc etc, but now I understand not everything has to be reported/always is. I also saw that this car was always taken to Lexus for service using the Owners function on Lexus.com.

Upon taking it home I notice that the front seems lopsided (driver side gap is much bigger). My fault for not having a proper mechanic inspect it rather than friends+family, but now I'm stuck with it and I feel it looks super obvious. I'm not sure how 4 other people didn't notice this.

Do you think Lexus would still cover replacing the headlight under warranty?

Thank you in advance,

Default Will lexus cover

So for me they did not because someone had tried to do it themselves with none OEM parts. My suggestion would be to check if your housing is OEM and if not, replace it with an OEM so they can’t void fixing it for fee

Try and let them say no they won't. Worth trying due to the cost.
