Okay so Tungstn bought other tape but Homer just used the skinny tape that came with it? Mine is red and about 1/2" wide, but has no "3M" or other identifying marks; looks generic.
Did you both buy the new 3M stuff locally or get it online somewhere? Want to make sure it's not too thick, so the spoiler sits as flush as possible to the glass.
I just went to the local auto parts store and got a roll of 3M red tape. It is probably only about a 3/8 - 1/2 of an inch wide about wide. It was like $8 and covered the entire spoiler. I had this on my 2IS for almost a decade. You couldn't pull it off by hand if you wanted to, provided you prep the surface well. I clay bar the glass and alcohol wipe both surfaces well. I did eventually pull the one off my 2IS like 6 years later to have it repainted and it would have broken before that tape let go. I had to use fishing line and a heat gun to cut it loose.

I hear ya. My OEM (style) rear spoiler came with legit 3M tape, and that stuff is NOT coming off! Barely touched it to the car, too, and couldn't pull all the plastic off the strips, it adhered so well. The stuff that came with this window one doesn't seem near as good, more like Post-It Notes, lol.
