Default Oil type+Odometer mileage

I’ve been following two threads, one on oil choice and another on the most miles on IS. I’m curious what oil weight people use and higher mileage odometer. If you would please post your mileage, oil and OCI. I use Toyota 0w20, Toyota filter, ready to turn 50,000 miles, 5,000 OCI, and DIY. Thanks for helping a curious mind!!

Well, my lexus is still brand new, with literally less than 200KM on it. It's the first Lexus my family has ever owned and we are exceedingly happy with it.

I plan to dump the factory fill after 3000 miles just as soon as the engine is fully broken in. I'll be using Motul 5W40 from then on out.

After that, depending on how the oil smells, probably a little bit less than 5000 miles. You could make several arguments as to why its better to change your oil MORE often, not the other way around.

If you are a long distance highway cruiser, you could go a bit past 5k easy.

Literally no point in using full synthetic if you’re going to change your oil every 5,000 miles. Use synthetic blend at that point.

Nonsense. Consumers are so Ill informed on this topic it's basically like a scam. Just because an oil claims to be synthetic does not mean it's good. And an oil which isnt synthetic based isnt necessarily something you shouldn't use.

No point in arguing when oil analysis continue to prove full synthetic is safe up to at least 10k miles.

I fully agree with dumping the factory oil way before 10k, then changing at 10k, but after that it’s unnecessary to continue changing anything less than 20k, 30k, 40k, etc.

LOL so now you’re going to say all the synthetic oils that have been tested numerous times and shown to have plenty of life in them past 5000k miles is just a SCAM!? LMAO.

No, I was saying that the consumer market knows nothing about oil.

Charging whatever the price Mobil 1 or Castrol is would be considered a scam.

Usually I use Motul, sometimes Redline, occasionally shell rotella in a higher mileage engine with a dirty crankcase. Pennzoil platinum is good, I've used AMSoil before with good results too. I'm sure I'm missing a few other good ones.

My NX300 is brand new. But I've been using 5W40 (sometimes 10w40) in my Mazda 6 for over 100k Miles now.

Renewable Lube BioSyn - Have heard great things about this oil. Good for direct injection motors and higher mileage drain intervals. If you do lots of short distance driving in cold weather, this is for you.

2014 IS 350 AWD: Castrol Full Synthetic 0w20, have almost 60,000 miles. Change oil yearly, usually have ~5K miles between changes, next spring (oil change time) will have closer to 10K due to not using my summer car much this past year.

I apologize, it’s just this new member on here seems to think he is an oil industry expert possibly that he invented oil itself. Anyways, I have 18.5k miles and I used Mobil-1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic 0W-20 (which is going to destroy my engine apparently) and used the Mobil-1 EP filter this past oil change. Granted, this is the first time my IS has this oil in it since the first two oil usages were the factory Toyota/Lexus oil (factory fill and then the free 10k service but had it done at 8k miles). Mobil-1 EP has worked very well for me for years, I used it on my G37S and my Miata MX-5 and had 0 issues.
