Default Headlight shutoff delay timer setting

Is it possible to adjust the setting so the headlight goes off immediately after you lock the car? I haven't found the 30 second of headlight useful and would just prefer it to be off. Is this option buried somewhere in the infotainment screen?

I've looked through the owners manual and searched around google/forum and hasn't found relevant info. It seems like for 2IS, this requires a visit to the dealer and have them adjust this via their scan tool.

If you press the lock button a single time, the lights stay on 30 seconds. If you press lock a second time they will turn off right then. Or at least on my car they do, I imagine it's the same for all.

In my 2016 IS 300, there's no need to visit the dealer. You can do this in the vehicle settings - go to the Menu, then Setup, then Vehicle. Then there's a setting for "time elapsed before headlights automatically turn off after doors are closed".

https://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/d...f/OM53D18U.pdf is where I found this. I think I remember seeing it when I was messing around with those settings one day but will have to look to give you the exact name of the option - should be fairly intuitive either way.

+1. I have my settings setup so that my headlights turn off right when I lock my door. Weirdly, if I get out of my car and lock it from my passenger side door, the headlights will stay on for some reason. Besides that, it works perfectly when I lock my door from driver side.

You lock your doors from the door button itself and not the remote?

Jokes aside I find the headlights on for 30 seconds useful in certain scenario's if I'm walking up to somewhere dark after exiting my car, so I never wanted to strictly disable that in the settings, but anytime I want them off immediately I just click the remote twice instead of once

Yeah I lock it from outside after closing my door with the little indent thing on the door handle so I never need to take my keys out of my pocket.

Ah, that's a fair point, I always forget about that little trigger on the outside, I'm just so used to pulling my remote out when I get out of any of my other vehicles I just do the same with my lexus.

For some reason I was picturing you locking it from the inside on your way out.

I'm going to start using that indent more, I honestly totally forgot about it! Thanks for reminding me!

On my 2015 350, I can push the lock button a second time and the car will beep again and shut lights off.
you can also run Toyota TechStream on an older windows laptop and buy the cable that hooks up to the obd2 port, their around $20 online. You’d then be able to access and customize a whole bunch of stuff like program your remote to lower the windows etc. and you’d also have a ton of diagnostic tools. Surely would save you trips to the dealer. I ordered one, just trying to hunt down a cheap old windows laptop to use.

Yeah the smart access feels like the future to me lol. This IS has been my first vehicle with a feature like this, and I prefer it over using the remote 100%. I also like that you don't have to press a real button to lock or unlock like some other cars I've driven, like the Camaro SS I rented a few weeks ago.

Now I just feel like an idiot, I looked up and down the pdf searching for timer "delay" but it never occurred to me to search for "elapsed" and it's right there. Should have messed more with the head unit, so many useful option in here. Thanks a bunch

Yeah I know about the two click on the unlock button, but I basically never need the 30 secs of light as my area is well illuminated usually.

30 seconds is the default,
120 seconds if you gotta walk in from the street,
0 seconds if you are a cop on stake out...

Feel like this is just drain on the battery, never can get myself to leave it for 30 sec. Maybe I'm over cautious. Would be nice if they went off when I locked the car...I have to push lock a 2nd time on the key to get them to go off.

Just recently I'm doing that over just having them go off as soon as I'd open the car door to get out.

Would kind of like a 15 sec option. 120? Who/why/where.

If you have the LEDs then you're not using much power and it's insignificant on the battery, even HIDs are efficient AFTER they are at peak brightness (they use quite a bit of power on startup to ignite and warm up the gas in the bulb) so again almost no drain on the battery. Anyways, I have mine set for the headlights to turn off as soon as I open my door, I like it better that way.

My wife has an Infiniti QX30 SUV. It has the same feature of being able to lock the doors with an indentation on the door handle.
I've had my 16 IS 200t f Sport since Wednesday, and immediately started using the same feature, as I'm used to it. I also agree
it's nice to not have to take the key fob out of my pocket. I don't think having the lights stay on for 30 seconds will drain the battery
in any way. Plus, Lexus wouldn't design the car to do this if it did drain the battery. I like the headlights staying on when I exit the car
for a short time.

How can I simply disable the delay function. I don't need it to stay on after I pull into my garage at home.
