Exclamation HID Flickering question

Was wondering if anyone would know the issue of flickering HID's. Passenger HID and sometimes driver side HID will flicker then turn off but then when I switch them off then back on their fine for a few minutes sometimes wont happen again till the next day. Is this bad bulbs or bad ballast?

Thank you in advance to the ones that helped!

Is this the first time that you are experiencing flickering issues or has it done so previously and now it's more occurring?

First thing is to replace the bulbs first to see if that helps, if it still continues then look at the electronics (ballast and/or ignitor). You also may want to check all connectors for any corrosion and clean with electronics cleaner then use dielectric grease to help slow down or stop further corrosion.

One last thing is to check the headlight caps for any seal issues or cracks as moisture entering can cause certain abnormalities over time.

As said, if one side is flickering, swap bulbs. If the flicker moves, then it's your bulb. if not, it's your ballast and/or integrated igniter.

HID/Xenon bulbs need changing about once every 5 years for optimum performance. they should also be replaced in pairs. or you'll have a drastic difference in color temp and output.

they're cheap enough nowadays where this isn't an issue.

If it's flickering and the color of the light has changed to a slight orange tone, then it is just the bulb that's gone. Just had it replaced two months ago, same situation...

From what remember, oem ballasts can last almost forever, but bulbs around 5-7 years.

Any issues with changing the bulbs? I see some talk about high voltage shock hazard? My drivers side is going out after 1 minute or so (will come on if I turn the lights off and back on). Not really flickering but just shuts off (both night and low beam). However I do notice it can be dim / weird colour before it goes out. 2014 IS350 AWD F-Sport (Canadian).
