Anyone receive a letter from lexus in the past few weeks regarding a pending TSB/Recall? i'll have to dig around for the letter so I can post it on here, but it was stating there was a known issue with the paint peeling on the 3IS models, and they were currently working on a solution.

 

can't imagine a solution rather than repaint.. lol

 

That sounds vaguely familiar, I recall it being targeted to a specific area of the vehicle

 

Maybe it's the one referring to the clear film that's on the front of the rear fender wells where the door closes.
Apparently you may still get stone chips just below the film.
I believe the fix is to remove and install a new film that is positioned more appropriately...of course any chips would have to be fixed.

It's not a paint peeling issue...it's just stone chips.
I read something somewhere...but can't find it at the moment.

 

I believe it was a different one. I'm going to have to double check. I was aware of the chips by the rear door, but this one I believe was specific to a certain year(s) and paint combo. I heard as far as the chips the dealers will screw you and just use touch up paint, which ends up coming off a few weeks/months down the road.

 

I haven't received one for my car (Nebula Gray), but, we received one for our other car which is a Toyota. It is specific to white paint colors - Blizzard Pearl and Super White. ??

 

that sounds about right, because mine is white as well. I will post a picture of the letter when I get home.

 

Is this for all 3IS years or a specific range?, I just got my new 2018 IS300AWD Ultra White and Lexus.ca reports no issues at this time for it.

It doesn't mention any Lexus models. Weird you got a letter. Is Super White on Toyotas equivalent to
Ultra White on Lexus models?

 

I saw in the article it mentions the Lexus GX was also affected, but yeah it was labeled with my name and vehicle when I received the letter.

 

Could you post the letter? Interested in seeing what it says.
