Default Driver door buzzing with audio - need a fix

hey guys,

this driver door buzzing while playing music is really wearing me out and making the car so unenjoyable to drive. the issue was fixed for a while after the dealer 'reseated' the panel..but after the summer heat and expansion and contraction, im back to square one. i know others have had a similar issue and ive tried those fixes. just curious if anyone else did anything other than adding felt to the window switch.

thanks

does it stop when you place your hand on top of the window switches? Probably not much you can do if so. Except for sticking get or paper or something around the switches.

I feel like i need some extra padding/insulation behind the door and that will solve the issue...I don't want to use dynamat or any of those sound deadening materials because I think they smell pretty bad...Im wondering if I could use some acoustic foam..but i know you have to be careful what kind of material you put inside the door due to moisture retention...any thoughts on that?

Play Billy Eilish "Bad Guy" and the vibrations in the first few seconds alone are awful.

Your driver door buzzes with music too?

I just replaced the vapor barrier, I think that is the part that is buzzing. I wasn’t able to reseat it without replacing it so we will see what happens.

Remove the driver window switches panel and wrap electrical tape around the switch box. That will fix it.

These pictures are from a GS, but it's the same issue. You can see how the switch box fits into the trim panel with some plastic tabs. It fits loose and allows it to vibrate.

I already had the dealer fix the switch panel buzzing, but the whole panel seems to vibrate.

Maybe there is more to your issue. But the sound I am talking about is surprisingly loud and can be heard over the radio at any volume level. After reading up on it, apparently it is pretty common in the IS and GS. After wrapping mine the sound completely went away. It would be worth the 2 minutes it takes to pop it off tape it up and see.

Be careful with touching the vapor barriers. I recently learned that modern cars side airbag systems are dependent on the vapor barrier as the system relies on pressure waves to determine exact deployment. Not sure the particulars of our cars, but it's probably worth being careful with it.

This video shows it on a GS, but they are the same. You just open the door and pop the front side of the panel up with something plastic/non marring. Unclip the wires, and wrap electrical tape around the two separate parts that are just clipped together. In the video, his is already taped when he shows it so it's hard to tell. But once you take it off you can see that it's too separate pieces. When I pulled it of my IS, you could shake it and rattled like crazy. Once taped it up it stopped.
