Default Unable to do burnout after tune

After installing my PPE headers and RR Racing tune on my 2014 IS350 it won’t allow me to do a burnout and goes straight to 2nd fear and gives me the message “1st Gear not available due to slippery road surface”. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t the car having the issue and installed the factory tune back onto the vehicle and gave it a try and it did it without any problems. Has anybody on here had that issue after installing headers and tune? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like more power is available to the wheels than pre mod. Therefore your tires are breaking loose and not hooking up like they did. Maybe new or stickier tires is in order.

is this what the IS community is becoming? Turning luxury sedans into rice rockets doing burnout?

Unfortunate.

Headers and ecu tune are Rice?
with how quiet and borderline dead the 3is scene is I’m glad to see someone do something. And who wouldn’t wanna burn some rubber after those mods?

If I was 17, I might want to do a burnout.

These cars are 5 years old now and are becoming more and more accessible to younger kids. Same things happen in the BMW circle. Just get the latest greatest BMW G20 (or equivalent 4IS when it comes out) so class yourself out of the lower-class.

There are 12 pages of build threads on the 3is forum...
according to your logic they are all 17 year old, lower class, ricers? You sound like a grumpy old man who thinks his Lexus is a Ferrari, with that attitude you’d certainly fit into the BMW world

Hold TC button for 5 seconds until it turns off completely. Put it in manual mode and hold the brake and punch the gas. It shouldn't shift into second gear. it should just bang off the rev limiter

Actually, I was referring to those who do burnouts and the comment below it re "what has this community come to." but I guess you took the comment personally.

I've been around the block and see generations come and go. If you do burnouts now and sag your pants in parking lots doing what's called "hard parking," trust me in 10-15 years you won't. You'd then understand why.

I think of a car mostly as transportation which is why I've resorted to buying a hybrid that gets 40mpg. So no, I do not think of a car as a Ferrari. Quite the opposite only--the whole point of my message.

Must be a reason why you got defensive... lol. No one thinks our Lexus' are Ferrari's, not sure where that assumption comes from.

Either way, I guess from your message we should all sadly agree once these cars become affordable to the younger generation who can finally get themselves a used Lexus, that this is to be expected. Kids will now ruin these beautiful cars and the status along with it.

“Must be a reason why you’re so defensive” while I’m driving a stock is350 Fsport LOL (minus the RCF/GSF bushings) and since I’m AWD I can’t do burnouts... so no, didn’t take his comment personally.

my point was calling someone “Rice” or a “kid” or a “saggy pants” or “lower class” because they decided to add headers and an ecu tune to or decide to do a burnout in a Lexus you seem to hold so high and mighty, like a social status symbol is pretty embarrassing. If you and others who claim to be of the “higher class” are basing that on driving a Lexus IS I’d say set your life goal bar a little higher.

Hi all,

Let's get back to the question the OP asked and away from making personal judgments and comments.

Here's a wild question, did you disable traction controll and put it in manual mode?
I recall that to prevent the car from auto shifting, you'd have to hold the traction control button for like 10 seconds and the traction light comes on in the dash, and you'll get the annoying traction control message.

I've never done a burnout but I only did that to see if my car would hold gears/ bounce off the rev limiter or auto up-shift. which it did bounce off the rev limiter
