Good post. I think people are just a little tired of hearing how great BMW is especially given that Lexus current lineup is no match. Have you visited the BMW forums? They don't even see the Lexus as competition. But when you mention Tesla in the BMW forums, they get all riled up because there are many converts there that have switched to Tesla due to its superior performance and BMW can't match it especially on a dollar to dollar basis.

Lexus was competitive for awhile but has really let its model lines stagnate especially in drivetrain. They are no match now unfortunately.

BTW, the Lexus IS350 is just as fast as the new 330. From a stop, the 330 is a bit faster at the beginning while the IS350 is better up top. I had a chance to play with one a couple months back. The G20 is much improved but got a little pricey. It is impressive for a 2L though. I can't wait to see the new M3.

We will enjoy our new bimmers and likewise current 3IS owners enjoy theirs. Turned in my 3IS yesterday, took one last look; overall it was a well built car that always started on the first crank. In the 3 years and 44k miles i have had it, it only let me down once mechanically but was fixed and issue never reoccurred. For that, it shall be missed, that was it's greatest attribute, dependability and build quality, it failed in performance. Hopefully i will be back in 3 years for the 4IS or 2nd gen ISF provided they build a compelling car, if not their loss. Life is too short to drive boring cars if one can afford not to.
I still have my 3IS, I'm holding it till the latest I can. I know it will be a sad moment giving it back and maybe I don't want that day to come just yet. It's a great car and reliability was always there like you said. On my first post starting this thread I even mentioned, if the 4IS is released within the next few years I also would like to make a return to the brand possibly. The only reason why I did a comparison was since it was asked and I figured it may help the community and give an insight since I haven't seen a comparison done of the Lexus IS and BMW 3 series here... Each car is special in its own ways, and for that I would never try to steer someone into buying a specific one.

Understood clearly bud; waiting for my car to arrive today lol since i am now car-less. Forgot to mention it appears you're obessed with that 3IS man, haha.

EZZ the Tesla you have does get some respect over there, it's that and the C43 AMG that people ponder aside from the G20 of course. I still need to do that test drive thing you had mentioned. I have ridden in Model S before but have never driven one.

The Model S is more of a 7 series competitor. Too big and fat. As I said, the driving dynamics of a Model 3 will blow you away (acceleration, handling, throttle response). The BMW will have a nicer interior and feel more like a luxury car. It was the right car for me due to the low upkeep and the fact that I have a minivan for long-distance family hauling. If it was the only car in the family, I would probably have chosen the BMW at the same price point.

Tesla Model 3 interior / dash is hideous. Looks like an afterthought.

To each his own. Its very simple and high quality materials in the dash area. Its really focused on minimalism and adheres to that theme to the extreme. I find using the central touchscreen to be a pleasant experience. Its actually faster and more intuitive than Carplay or Android auto and very easy to use which is the complete opposite of the horrid Enform system. The thing i miss most about the IS350 is the turning radius. That thing was sooo nimble. Awesome car.

Lol I get too attached to my cars, what can I say haha. And yes the Tesla 3 and C43 AMG are always discussed there along with some Alfa Guilia comparisons too (cannot forget that). Anyone else here part of the bimmerpost forums other that @EXE46 ? Would love to know who else is a part of that community there too to recognize some of you others.

I like the Tesla 3 dash. I think it's supreme.

I'm the kind too that will praise any make and model. No jerseys. No colors. No gang signs. No gangs.

Also if you make something sucky I'll call it out too.

Honestly all the new cars are good and get the job done. All comes down to your personal style.

In this class I like the G20, G70, Tesla 3 best. The Mercedes C is nice but its getting long in the tooth.

I'm on Bimmerpost too. I think 2009 or 2011. Not a huge fan of that forum too. Too mod heavy.

Yeah, agreed. It's basically empty space with a big oversized tablet thrown in the middle. Whoever they paid to design that, they wasted their money.

In person, I find it less jarring than in photos. But, it would take me a while to get used to looking at that screen for my speed. That's my main gripe with it. The 3 could really use a heads-up display.

Never mind then, just providing an alternative perspective to show that hey - you have to try it for yourself to make your own judgment.

I get it. It’s all in the eyes of the beholder. When you’ve driven a Model S, romped around in a Model X (with the ridiculous nonsensical doors btw), you wonder what the hell Tesla was thinking when they could have implemented the same dash that was already in production and zero extra overhead to reproduce. Instead, Tesla invested money in developing pimple of a MacBook Pro dashboard that’s a step backward from what was already svelte in the “S” and the “X.”

The dash of the model three is as primitive as it gets. Unrefined, complicated, ugly, and silly. There’s no reason why they couldn’t have use the same layout as in the X and the S.

springs will not void you warranty. i still have my warranty on my IS & i have coilovers, a BBK, exhaust, intake, and tune. don’t waste your money getting rid of the RC... lexus may say that but once they’re on they won’t say anything. if anything go to another dealership too.

Turned the IS in today. Here is a final goodbye picture of her!!

Vehicle is going to be in Lexus of Escondido if they end up buying it out (it's there right now), I would be interested to see if anyone from these forums ends up picking her up!
