Apple Car Play for IS
Not sure if this has been answered already, but I've seen a bunch of 2018 Lexus models (other than the IS) eligible for an Apple carplay upgrade.
Will 2018 IS models be seeing this upgrade also?

So I joined this forum just to say THANKS! I stumbled upon this thread two days ago and had no idea Apple CarPlay was available for my wife's 2018 nx300h (No Nav - because the dealer told us ScoutGPS was great... it SUCKS!). I downloaded all the instructions and software while I read everyone's tips.
I decided to try a different route than what was stated as "do exactly like this." I did this mainly because I couldn't get windows 10 to format my card to fat32 and I didn't want to go download a formatter.
So I borrowed a Sony XQD 64GB memory card from my Nikon. Its a really fast card, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Paired that with a Lexar Pro usb3 card reader. I used MacOS 10.14.5 Disk Utility to format the card to DOS (fat32) - exactly what was stated not to do, but I figured it had to work and it does work. I then copied all of the software to the top level of the memory card. I took it all out to the car and began the upgrade at 9:45pm and I was done by 10:12pm! Less than 30 minutes!!! I also didn't need to re-install the eOwner's Manual.
During the test drive, the GPS was super laggy. I tried both Waze and Google Maps. I think it was caused by the car trying to re-install the Enform App Suite??? I will do another test drive tomorrow night and see if it speeds up.
The funny thing is my wife received an email today that Lexus would upgrade the car for $200 on sale. Other people on this thread said they are getting charged a 2 hour labor fee on top of the software fee. That is totally, utterly, ridiculous. This was so easy to do, if anyone in the Sacramento area needs help, let me know.
So here's the real kick in the *** about this whole thing. My wife was so sick of the half assed ScoutGPS and the really uncomfortable seats, she is selling this car. Its not even a year old.

I thought of doing the conversion to Entune 2.0 from a RC but I could not find a decent price on the stereo. So I went aftermarket.
I bought this Link plug and play to the back of the radio and display. I got the wireless CarPlay option. Wireless works about 70% of the time. It works 100% through USB every time though. Android Auto is great. I have it paired up to my car’s hotspot for internet and I am able to play YouTube videos and music. Hope this helps those of you looking for an option to CarPlay our IS’

you can use any source of audio and won't get caught off if you switch to others. I made this video check it out.

Since I cannot watch, what is that little round thingy next to your steering wheel? Some sort of magnetic charging pad?

Hopefully this one works better. Not as detailed but YouTube doesn’t want any music sound or displayed. So dumb!
