Default IS 200T Oil Change

Hi Guys,

I just bought a used IS 200t f sport. Just wondering how often I should get an oil change and is there a feature on the car that will tell me the oil life % or when it's near time to get one?

if you don't know the last time it got serviced, it wouldn't hurt to perform preventive maintenance. I personally do oil changes every 5k miles, there are some who do it at 7 and 10. I've been taught to change all fluids (mileage dependent) on a car with an unknown history as preventive maintenance and peace of mind.

There's recommended services based on mileage. Just see what mileage you're at, what the cars service history is, and go from there.

I found this off google, p47 on the pdf is probably where you'd be interested in looking for factory recommended services.

There is no oil life % on this car. If you're using full synthetic, which you should be, just do about 7k miles and then change the oil. Lexus recommends 10k, but that's a lot if you ask me. Best practice is to every so often check your dipstick and take a look at how the oil is looking.

+1 for doing it at 7-10k miles. 5,000 is nice for peace of mind, but with synthetic oil, you should be able to wait significantly longer than 5,000 easily. I've been doing my changes every 5-7,000, but only because the dealership seems to just give me oil changes for free without even asking. Otherwise I'd wait 8-9k. (I have the AWD model, but it has the same oil change recommendations.)

10k max per lexus. but if you're a tuned turbo boy, i'd scale the changes down to 5k. of course you can always do a blackstone test to see where your particular needs and mods call for.

A good medium I've found is 7,500 miles. Turbo stuff tends to put more stress on oil. oil is cheap.
