Default Help! 2014 AWD Lexus IS 250

I can't seem to find a straightforward answer on if I really do need to do maintenance that my local Toyota dealership is insisting on.

I have a 2014 AWD Lexus IS 250 that is sitting at 82k miles. Do I really need to do a transmission flush? What about differentials? Coolant flush? Brake flush?

Help!

Welcome to the forum!

There has been many threads debating the flushing of the fluids, so there will be varying opinions.

My personal practice:
- Brake fluid - every 2 years or 48,000kms (we use kilometers in the north)
- Coolant - 96,000kms
- Diff. - every 2 years or 48,000kms
- Transmission - drain and fill every 48,000kms (if i can get a flush, i would do that instead)

Let the opinions rain in!!

This. Don’t follow Lexus recommendations, they want you to get past warranty than sell you a new transmission or engine.

Would you recommend a time on the coolant? I've had my IS for 4 years and I haven't even hit 50k km. At this point i probably wont hit 96K for another 4 years lol

the coolant is good for a very long time, something crazy like 7 years and a lot of mileage. It’s cheap and easy to flush.

I think I drive just a little more than you do, and it's not much how much I drive.
You can do a 'drain and fill' with the coolant at 5 years if you're not going to being driving more.
I believe the service schedule is 160,000kms (can't remember the years), but it will take both of us forever to get there.

Spark plugs i would recommend at 96,000kms or 5 years.
I'll probably do mean at the end of summer this year since my IS will be 6 years old...it was a very early production 2014 model.
