Hey guys, I can hear tapping noise inside of my car. The noise is louder when the gear is on. The mileage is around 85,000 km. I took the car to the dealership and they replaced the high pressure oil pump (under warranty), no change in the level of the noise.
Can I have some advice for you, please?
Thank you in advance for any idea.

You should probably post a video of the noise or something to help us get a better idea of what noise you’re talking about.
Is it the higher pitched tapping? That sounds like the direct injectors working to me.
Was your high pressure fuel pump actually bad when the dealer replaced it?
The tapping is not high pitched, high pressure fuel pump was not bad at all. The dealership "thought" it was the pump, so they replaced it, but no improvement, actually the tapping noise is getting louder.

Thanks, pngo.
The lower pitched tapping noise may be attributed to your boost regulator. Check out the thread below to locate the part under the hood. You can feel it and see if the vibration matches the frequency of the tapping noise you are hearing. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...ost-issue.html
If you aren't having any surging/hesitation issues under heavy load/high throttle input in which it feels as if you're pressing on the gas pedal on and off, then you are probably fine and everything is working normally.
If you are having surging/hesitation, then your boost regulator may be bad and is causing a louder noise and you should take it to the dealer for a replacement.

@pngo , the 2016 IS 300 has the V-6 engine. There's no boost regulator.
Might I suggest taking a video from under the hood with the hood open.
Depending on what you're listening to it on, the current video sounds like the motor has a slight knock.
But since these motors are pretty much bulletproof, that would be a stretch.
It's possible it could just be my crappy speakers too.
From the underhood video the engine sounds ok to me.
But once again, could be my speakers.
Have you tried comparing it to other videos online to see how it sounds?
It's possible with age the direct injectors have gotten noisier, which is normal. Inherently they make noise anyways, even when new.
Can you describe under what conditions you hear the noise? Like only at idle, or driving? And if so, what speed and are you cruising or accelerating?
I'm assuming that the vehicle performs well, fuel mileage is normal, and there is no Check Engine light on.
From inside, it sounds like knock it’s pretty loud. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like that since I have the 4 banger. My G37S used to be a little loud too from the inside it sounded like ticking/knock but I never had issues and was told it was just the VVEL.
It sounds normal to me that is how my 350 sounds like. Although quick question in the second video was that a cold start because it sounded like it was idling higher than usual only if it was already warmed up though.

Guys.
It's the injectors. These guys run at a very high pressure and slam shut, making that clicking sound.
Today I was in the drive through ATM line and decided to turn my A/C off to see if it sounded the same. Not surprisingly, it sounded exactly like the video above. Has since day one.
If you've never owned a DI engine before, I understand the concern. However, it's perfectly normal.
