I did use Tamiya smoke but went on heavy with it to create essentially a black finish. Topped with 2 coats clear.
A better finish than it was with pastidip w/gloss a while back.
However, I suspect the Tamiya isn't going to hold up long. Just a hunch. I may even remove and start over right.
I've never used the dip-release, I hope you'll include that in your practice run, cause i feel like it's not needed. It may prevent your mask coverage from staying where you need it. I suppose youll see how workable and removeable the stuff is one you try it.
Was originally going to put it on just the emblems, but then figured it prob won't hurt if it gets on the paint, so minimally will just apply it on them so it comes off easier. Won't be doing it until it gets warmer out anyway.
Here's a better shot of the emblem, painted with gloss coat. I may debadge but wanted to try this first.
And back to the thread topic, attempted to wrap the front grille surround today. I succeeded but not without plenty of imperfections. This can be done in one piece, I set out to use 3 pieces because of how difficult it was made out to be. The difficulty I had was not where I expected, but I learned.
Nope. Had a tear in the vinyl below so when I got to that point I pretty much had it in my mind to redo top half at least, in 1 piece. Until I get a new sheet and time to redo it's at least "done" and I've learned from some mistakes. As is my trend in this thread apparently
