Default F-Sport Winter Wheel Setup without TPMS

Anyone running a setup without the TPMS monitors? I was going to get TPMS in my winter setup that I'm about to order, but after adding up all of the parts, I really don't think it's worth it. In my prior 2 cars, I never added the TPMS and just drove with the light on after it comes on 1/2 hour after driving.

The TPMS at Tire Rack is $48 per wheels, but then you need to program them to talk to the car each time you swap them on the 2018 models since they don't remember 2 wheel sets like the 2017's and older used to . So the Tool to program them is another $275, so that's almost $500 just to keep your dashboard light off!?

I really don't think it's worth it, I'm pretty well aware of my car and monitor tires and pressures, so don't think it would be a big deal.

Sounds like you already have your answer. I definitely couldn't drive 4 to 5 months of the year with any warning light on my dash, it would bother the eff out of me.

Total cost can be as low as $150 Link

Also Carista app can now program the tpms in Toyota/Lexus.

If you're fine with not seeing pressures anyway, there is another option. Aftermarket sensors like ez sensor and autel can copy the id's of the old sensors. Which means you wont have to reprogram the car each time you swap wheels. Tire shops should have something similar

Thank you for the info! While this seems like a super cost-effective solution, after 2 minutes of research on Amazon.com just now, it appears that the Quality of this product is lacking and numerous users having issues with new ones they've received as well as some sensors only working a couple of months and then failing. If the swap out/replacement of these did not require the need to remove the tire from the rim, then it would be less of an issue for me. But no way I can live with the risk of that & needing to bring my car to a shop each time to replace them.

Here are the reviews:

I picked up USED OEM lexus pacific pmv-107j on ebay for $60 a set of four. Purchased Schrader 20032 TPMS Service Pack for $1.99 each from autozone. Did the seal change and install on my wheels before I had my tires mounted. Then I went to Pepeboys and they programmed my tpms to my car for $14.99.

~$83 is the cheapest way I found to doing this. You can program up to two sets of tpms on your car.

I tried to program with techstream but my cheap amazon/ebay cable didn't work with it.
no carista app, no bluetooth obd2 adaptor, no cables, etc.

Thanks man, that is a great idea. I have a 2018 and unfortunately after the 2017 models you can no longer program more than 1 set (apparently they did away with that after reading up on this on the forums).

which is why I still say just to get the light off, that cloning the IDs is the best choice

2014+ IS can only hold one set of IDs.
You can either live with the light, get cloned sensors so you don't have to do any reprogramming, or get some OEM/used sensors and get something like Carista to reprogram them yourself.

I agree with 350phi, pickup used sensors/new sensors if you wish off ebay.
Buy yourself a Autel programming tool for around $200-225 & you can do it all yourself.
I now have 4 vehicles I change wheels for winter so it will pay for itself in the end. No issues reprogramming the module.

I would have my TPMS in winter and if I don't have tpms for summer is ok. I can check tire pressure when it is not cold outside.

Thanks, I ended up getting the wheels and cloning sensors thru my local tire shop and he already has the tool to program them, so I don't need to buy any of that, will see how it works out!
