Default 2014 IS Fuel pump sealed plate

My fuel tank was punctured yesterday, so Im in the process of pulling the tank to be replaced. However, the fuel pump access underneath the rear seats seems to be sealed. Unlike previous models with the 3 bolts holding it.
Is it necessary to remove from above if I plan on dropping the tank out anyways? How much harder is this going to be because of wire slack?
I would be so grateful if someone could point me in the right direction on this part. Thanks in advance for your time!

Can you remove the tank with the fuel pump attached? Why the need to remove the pump/sender first? Unplug the pump at the top then drop the tank? Either way, it seems adhesive is holding that plate down.

Here's a pic of the fuel tank that may help you.

Thanks so much for your reply!
My reasoning was so I can drop the tank without having to wedge and try to unplug the top because of lack of wire slack. Most importantly getting it back connected would be a hassle. I was hoping someone might have done it before and had a work around.
I pulled the grommet off and can access one of the clips easy-ish.. but the other two wouldn't be possible. I suppose I'll try underneath, just unsure in the reasoning behind changing the design to make it less useful. I am a novice though.

I'm going to disassemble from the bottom and hope it's not necessary to disconnect from the top. 😄

The plates are sealed with a butyl sealant, with a spatula or other wide tipped tool you can pry them up from the body to access the connections. Then just reapply the butyl onto the plates, or you may even be able to reuse the factory again.

Oh I see.. you have no way of unplugging it from the top. I'm sure you followed the wires and didn't see a disconnect anywhere in the interior? I'd remove that plate as said and see what you can do from there. If the factory can put it in, you can pull it out.

Thanks! This was very helpful in giving me the courage to pry the body. It seemed fragile and I didn't know how strong the adhesive was. I used a putty knife with a light hammer around to break it free enough.
I'll be cleaning it and applying a new coat once I'm reassembling.
After opening the access holes, I unplugged the connections and was able to drop the tank easily.
I'm going to need to transfer my hardware from the old tank to the new. Working on getting these retainers off now.
Thank you for the help everyone! Well on my way to getting back on the road.
