Hi all,

Do you know if 245/40/19 would rub in the front wheels all on stock suspension with full load? Looking to do this with a square tire setup.

If not, would 235/40 work? Or would I have to go to 235/35 for it not to rub?

I would think this would be ok. I have 19x8.5 +40 with 245/40/19 tyres and have heaps of clearance

 

245/40 tires are nearly 1.5" over factory diameter. You should probably be on 235/35.

 

245/40/18 is ok on a factory wheels for the front. I think it should be ok since the offset vs width of the wheel is similar to the factory ones, but may want to look into 35 instead of 40.

 

The 245/40/19 tyre is almost exactly the same diameter as 225/55/17 tyres that were standard on my car

 

Stock 225/55/17 tyres on my car measure 679.3mm diameter and 245/40/19 tyres are 678.6mm so actually just smaller in diameter.

F Sport has 225/40/18 .. which is 1" larger. If that's not your model .. my mistake.

 

No problem mate-i'm in australia so maybe we had different tyre sizes here. I know we never had 16" rims like you had there but our 17" rims had 225/55/17 tyres and 18" rims had 245/45/18 tyres standard. This is for an LS430-maybe I mistook what car it was intended for?

I have 225/40R18 in the front, 255/35R18 in the rear on my F Sport. And all F Sports have the same wheel and tire sizes.

 

I run 225/50/18's on the front with zero issues (255/45/18 rear). Based on the tire size calculators on the web, you should be fine.

 

Your right. Not sure where that 55 came from. 225/40/18 is right.

 

Yeah... so 245/40R19 would be about 1.6 inches more than the stock tire diameter. That seems high IMHO.

 

The diameter on my wheels is approximately 3" larger than OEM. It does fill the wheel well while maintaining width, and in the end, the car is 1.5" taller than stock, the ride is significantly smoother, there is zero rubbing, and the speedo offset is 3mph at 60 mph..

It makes sense for the NE given the potholes and ice rocks in the winter.
