Default Transmission

Today, on my 40 minute drive to work. Which I drive three times a week. I was at a red light and I proceeded to go and my car wouldn't go over 20mph and my RPM was hitting 5 so I went to pull over and my car like kicked back in and started driving normal again. First time this has done this. I have 50K miles on it. Do you think its my transmission slipping?

Was the engine seeming like it was losing power or sputtering when you tried to go above 20mph? Did you get any check engine light?

I ask because my wife's car (not a Lexus) had something similar and it turned out to be a random camshaft sensor going bad, which in turn threw a check engine light along with the camshaft sensor intermittent code and an engine cylinder misfire. Thankfully it wasn't anything with the transmission and the car had over 120K on it. But in your case at 50K miles, I wouldn't imagine that being the case...

Asking pretty much the same question, was the check engine light on, or flashing when this occurred?

it gave me a very light shimmy, and lasted less than five seconds and no check engine light appeared while this happened. I work 13 hours shifts and I drove home with no problem.

No check engine light appeared when this happened. It lasted less than five seconds. I drive home after my car sat for 13 hours with no problem.

Has it happened again since that last time?
