The first friend's tune is probably to thank for the lack of a dash light.

I don't know how the muffler delete alone would cause a CEL. Friend of mine got a brand-new 2021 IS 350 last year and muffler-deleted it in his first two weeks of ownership. No problems. So, strictly speaking, I don't think a muffler delete alone would normally cause any issue.

I've had a muffler delete for over 2 years, no engine lights. 1 year after muffler delete, I had the resonators taken out = no lights. Personally, I hate any lights (TPMS, engine light, etc), so I would never do something that would cause any messages like this.

It's only when you start removing things from the catalytic converter and onward, basically anything that O2 sensors are attached to and beyond that point.

thank yall both i appreciate it alot, with that said even after lookin at one of the Megan Racin axle backs i might just chop the resonators and find some burned tips to get the same look and sound, much love again🤝

No prob, but be wary when cutting the resonators off. That's basically the part which reduces the higher frequency sounds, what people call the "rasp". Fortunately, my car still sounds good but I think it also depends on the size of the pipes. I got it done from some local muffler shops and I got lucky.

There's an Instagram account, jcc_custom, if you listen to their cars, all the cars sound VERY similar. Doesn't matter if it's a BMW, Honda, w/e. I believe it's because they're using the same type of pipe (not sure what it is) on all the cars that go there. This isn't a knock at their shop but you need to keep that in mind. I like a lower pitch sound, the muffler delete was really good. When I got the resonators off, the car was significantly louder. But if you do resonators first without muffler, it's quieter than muffler alone, if that makes sense.

I don't see the point in getting an exhaust system for the IS, there is no proven horsepower gain unless you are tuning it (which is also not that much). Thousands of dollars for subtle noise difference and no real gains doesn't make sense to me.

In this video, Did you just cut the "muffs" and replace with a straight pipe? what size pipe did you use or what size pipe is it? Thanks
