Default Cheap and effective way to improve ride quality

The Lexus model Is200t has a revised rear subframe using two dynamic dampers that bolts onto the front of diff and one onto the rear subframe. Here’s how I figured this out

I own a 14 is250 and it rides pretty good, smooth and sharp. I was never mad a Is200t model was release after 1 year of purchasing my car. Until I drove one... it was super smooooth. So I thought, same chassis and same suspension how can I be so much smoother. When a buddy was servicing a Is200t I looked under the car to see what’s changed, right away I spotted the dynamic dampers. It wasn’t weld on, it was bolted on. So I sourced out the dynamic damper and bought it. I installed it on my is250 using longer 12mm 1.75 hex bolts from true Cavour hardware. It made a night and day difference. The shifts were so much smoother, the rear end felt so much planted and it was a cheap and effective upgrade. It’s a improvement. Just passing on the useful info. (Is200t damper)

Interesting, any chance you could provide some pics as to where you bolted them on? Also, where you were able to pick them up/how much? I have a 350 AWD, any idea if this is applicable?

Wow, you are definitely onto something great here. The facelifted 3IS does indeed handle better.
Any chance we could get a full DIY with partcodes and installation pics? Very tempted to do this.

My IS200t (pre facelift) has that part in the back at the rear axle/diff carrier. I knew it was some sort of vibration damping of the driveline. Think of a tuning fork then putting your finger at the end to stop the vibration/noise.

Here's a list of actual facelift changes I found, OP might like this:

Did some more research. The answer to your question is yes. Part # 5124930040

This part only comes on the 4 cylinder IS (200t), and not the 250 or 350.

I think the reason is due to the 4 cylinder having inherently more vibration than a V6 (250/350) therefore needing an additional damper to quell 4 cylinder vibrations.

In other words, it seems the OP may have installed this part for nothing as it does nothing on a V6.

Or, it's not SUPPOSED to do anything on a V6, but it does. The vibration may increase with mileage and it makes sense that this upgrade reduces it.
Either that, or it's a placebo, but either way, ~$190 is not a bad price for a good placebo

If vibration increases with mileage, then you need to change your engine/trans mounts. =)

Sure, but I don't see why taking measures to reduce vibration would be a bad thing.

I wonder if the 3.5-liter models would see any benefit from making this upgrade...

if free, sure. but $190 is quite an expensive measure for something that likely does nothing.

It fits 350, 250 diff’s. It’s $92 where did u get 192 from? And this damper works, it shifts smoother and feels more comfy if you know what I mean. Worked for me and it will work for u.
